This short story takes place in-between the end of Season 2, and the beginning of Season 3 of the show Peppa Pig Baddies
Gerald's POV
My legs were stretched out, resting on the coffee table. Molly sat on my left, concentrated on setting up the perfect plan for this upcoming celebration. She was so meticulous, treating everything like some undercover operation. Well, it kind of was. We decided to plan this surprise birthday party for Danny. It was in a couple of days, so I invited Molly over so we could get the plan finalized.
"I think we should get the decorations the day after Halloween. It'll be discounted by then," she said, a little smirk forming on her lips as she wrote this idea down.
"Money's not a problem, Molls. Mom can get the decorations today," I said as I looked over at where she sat. I reached over, snaking my hands around her and pulling her closer to my side of the couch. "Plus, we shouldn't risk things and get everything the day of his birthday."
She scooted her glasses up and fixed her eyes on me, fighting the smirk that formed on her lips whenever I was close to her. "You know, maybe you should ask your Mom. I think she'd appreciate saving money. Especially because these decorations are just gonna be used for one day." She looked away from me bashfully as she went back to scribbling whatever into the plan she had written out.
I heard my mom coming down the stairs. I fixed my arms on the couch behind Molly's head.
"You know, I think it's really considerate of Molly to suggest getting the decorations on Friday," Mom announced as she placed the laundry basket beside me, then swatted my foot off the coffee table.
"Oop," Molly noted with a chuckle, amused by my mother's display of authority as I moved my feet.
"Dala what you must," I said as I sat up. "We just need it all set up before we come back home Friday."
"Okay, Gerald. Ngiyakuzwa (I hear you), okay?" she said as she smoothed my hair back.
Mom picked up the laundry basket, bringing it to the other side of the couch as she sat down and started folding the laundry. Eish... looks like I won't be able to have my time with Molly now.
Okay, focus Gerald. We need to finish executing Operation D-Day B-Day. Wait...that's actually kinda catchy.
"Hey. What if we call this plan... Operation D-Day, B-Day," I said, folding my arms, pausing for a dramatic effect.
Molly paused from her work to look over at me with a wry smile, shaking her head. "Sure, Ger. I'll make sure to add your title as your contribution to all this," she said sarcastically.
"Haibo! So we're acting like I'm not..." I paused halfway, trying to think about what my job was in this whole plan. What was my contribution?
I looked over at Molly's paper with the plan written out. So far, Mom was decorating the house and cooking food, Molly was baking and decorating the cake, and Dad was away, but he said he could come back home with some accessories from one of his shows. This would help with the emo aesthetic we were going for for this birthday party. A tribute to Danny's style. He said he wasn't emo, but that's what his style looked like.
"How about... I..." I said as I pondered. I looked at the sheets Mom was folding, then added, "...I could take Danny out the house. Go trick-and-treating."
"Trick and treat? Hawu! You want to dress up and beg for sweets? Yoh!" Mom said dramatically. Molly chuckled at my Mom's antics.
"Can you stop," I said, furrowing my brows as a smirk formed on my lips. You see this. Showing out for Molly again. They always did this when Molly was around, I swear.
