chapter 8: first day out of Bell Reve

Felicity: that's something I'll never understand.

Then they all stood in front of a fire totem thing.

Dr phosphorus: what the hell is this?

Felicity: oh, that's my mom's family's phallic fire totem thing, for their pipeline project.  They're stuck because they need a unanimous town vote to do the whole thing.  Half want a chunk of the pipeline money and the other half want to save the trees or some shit.  My dad's holding out just to spite my mother.

Kai: yeah, my parents and Leelas parents are some of the holdouts.

Dib: (offscreen) Dek!

Everyone turned around to see Felicity's cousin Dib running up to them.

Felicity: have you been following us!?

Dib: anything to learn about your alien boyfriend's species! (To Dek)  So, first things first, has your kind been to earth before?

Dek was about to answer before Felicity stopped him.

Felicity: don't answer any of his questions, we'll be here all day.

Then they continued walking as they passed an abandoned convenience store.

Felicity: that's the old abandoned Dusk 2 Dawn.  And that's the town crazy guy old man Mcgucket.

Mcgucket: old man Mcgucket.

Then he spits in a bucket.

Mcgucket: spittin' in a bucket!

Kai: yeah, you're gonna wanna avoid that whole mess.

Eventually they arrived at the scrapyard.

Felicity: okay, you guys stay out here for a few minutes.  It's gonna be difficult trying to explain why I've been gone for four months and... This whole situation.

She said, referring to what happened to her as she walked inside.

Dib: now that she's busy... Dek, has your kind been to earth before?

Dek: yautja have been hunting on this planet for centuries.

Dib: really?

Harley: oh God.  We're going to be here all day.

Dib: so, the dreadlocks.  Is it safe to cut them off or would you die?

Dek: ....

Nina: ummm... Dib, maybe you should just tone down on the questions.  I don't think Dek would be able to answer all of them.

Dib: I've been writing these all night!!

Leela: oh God...

GI robot: will we be killing Nazis soon?

(Time skip)

Felicity finally walked back outside.

Leela: how was it?

Felicity: well, I'm on ocean scrap duty for an entire month.  Let's just go get some lunch.

Then Gaz walked next to them.

Felicity: Gaz, what are you doing here?

Gaz: I was going to Bloaty's Pizza Hog for lunch.

Kai: that place is still open?

Leela: ... Not much changes in this town, Kai.

(Time skip, at Bloaty's Pizza Hog)

Dek used his makeshift translator to talk.
