9:34 a.m.

Y/N POV

I should've just stayed in the room, rather than listen to my friend yap about those men in her class again. *Sighs*

At this point, I'm starting to think that she's easy to get fooled and dumped by those immature people. Always looking at their face and not their personality.

Beauty is a waste, I guess...

I stole a glance at her as we walked towards a nearby café, with her still yapping and me wanting to change the topic before I accidentally burst into a fit.

Call me dramatic, but I can't stand it when people talk about boys or romance in particular. My father's fault for being an a**hole and abusive. He doesn't deserve a happy ending, so he got killed by 'It.' A shame that he had to die by the hands of an unexpected guest...

But that's all in the past now. What matters is the present... And the future? The future intrigued me, though. You'll never know when you'll die or what will happen to you next. Because the next thing you'll know, you're in the hands of that same man you just thought of yesterday.

In the hands of that same man?? Huh…?

I snapped out of my thoughts as I realized what just happened. I looked up in shock, clearly dumbfounded and embarrassed as I realized that I accidentally bumped into someone while deep in thought. Not just someone, though... Him. Those ocean eyes of his—calm, but dangerous. So, so dangerous that one look can make a person feel like prey.

And out of all the people I could have bumped into, WHY HIM?! IS FATE REALLY THAT CRUEL? I DON'T LIKE—

"Are you alright, dear? Are you hurt?" he suddenly asked with that calm and collected voice of his. Suddenly, I felt like a fool in front of him. Holding his arms to keep me balanced while his hands carefully hold me, as if I am fragile.

"I'm alright, thank you," I said as I quickly pushed myself off of him, brushing the non-existent dust in my clothes as I looked at him again. Creepy...

"Be careful next time," he said as he gave me one last gentle (somewhat unsettling) smile as he exited the café. I took a deep breath as I looked at my friend with an unknown expression.

"Don't utter a single word about what just happened," I warned her as I walked to an empty table, feeling something unfamiliar and unsettling after that encounter.

"I won't, geez... What got you in a bad mood today? Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed?" she asked, taking a seat in front of me, face contorted into concern while looking at me.

"I'm fine, just not in the mood.. considering all that is happening these past few months here," I assured her as I brought my notebooks out to review.

"You're lucky for having bumped into Johan earlier..." she blurted out as I looked at her with a confused look.

"Lucky where? I humiliated myself in public, Alice. Tripping out of nowhere while lost in thoughts?! Now that's something I am embarrassed and not happy about!" I said with an irritated voice as I aggressively turned the next pages.

"Alright, alright! Sorry! I won't talk about this again, promise," she said as she stood up, going to the counter to order something for us.

I just sighed as I put down my notes to look outside the café window, trying to get my thoughts away from what happened earlier.

The only thing that I can hear is the chatter of the people around the table and the noise near the counter. Whispers of a group not as far away as I heard sobbing and crying about the recent murder of those two students.

I nearly forgot about that... It's not like I know them that much, except for the fact that they're literally obsessed freaks who like the same guy. Not surprised if the cause of death is jealousy... Haha, funny, I guess.

"I'm back with the orders." Alice came with our orders as she put them down on our table and took a seat.

"Thank you, Al," I muttered a quick 'thank you' to her as I began to drink.

"Have you heard about the recent news? After the news of those two students, a police officer discovered a man near the crime scene," she said, fear evident in her voice.

"Is it the suspect?" I asked, taking a bite of a delicious dessert.

"No, he was already dead. Police found a stack of candies he was keeping in his coat, and it turns out the candy was poisoned," she answered, then took a sip of her coffee.

"Strange..." I muttered, feeling unsettled. It's not the first time that a case like that happened for the first time. 3 months ago, 3 of those victims died because of a poisoned candy... Could it be that it was somewhat connected to this? Same killer? Same killer who plotted all of this? And still no clue who that person is. Whoever that person is, they're very smart at this whole chaos.

"For now, let's stay safe and always on our guard. You'll never know when the killer might make their next move," I said, trying to ease her fear. She just nodded in return as we ate in peace.

Johan's POV:

Just when I thought my plan would be harder than I imagined, she really fell in front of me. Dumb move to fall for my plan, but then again, this won't be harder than I intend to make it.

The first interaction is all I need to initiate the second and third—like a domino effect. Now what's left is to make it all seem natural to avoid any suspicion.

One wrong move and everything will fall apart.

I can't wait any longer. I need to do this...

Everything is going according to plan and I'm too eager to do this.

Very unlikely of me to act like this, but you can't help something if you dedicated your time and effort for the one thing you planned, right? The monster is eager... And so is me...

"Finish what has started" I muttered as I stalked my next victim,

Alice.
