Adwin finally made it to the doors of the church, but there was no sign of a way to get in, and in his current state he probably wouldn’t be able to pull such big doors open anyway. He’d never understand how Kai was able to run so fast, but after thinking, he decided it was because he was an ant in his eyes. He walked around to the side of the building, and found a glass window had been smashed open at some point. Maybe he could fit through it, and so he tried. After a small struggle, he was in, and the building was massive. A lot bigger than any church he’d ever been in before, and while to most that wouldn’t be a bother, Adwin was a different story. He didn’t despise religious people or anything, but as little as he despised them, he also wanted nothing to do with any kind of religious grounds. Most of all though, especially not churches. Adwin walked quietly through the rows of seats, and thought that maybe this wasn’t so bad. It was darker than he expected, and no one was there to bother him, maybe that made it better. Through his peace though, he remembered that he had to find Kai, and sadly he promised to keep him safe. Maybe after all of this, he’d toss Kai into the furnace in his shop and turn him into a slime or something. Adwin dropped down as he heard a crowd of people speaking in another room, he checked his options to defend himself; His short sword, his hammer, and Peanut. Peanut was fragile, so no, and his hammer was heavier than his sword. He approached the room and leaned against the door, ever so slightly pushing it open. To his surprise, it was at least fifty armoured men, and of course, Kai was tied up on a stage where a single, more decorated knight stood.
“Peanut.” The snakes slithered down from his hair to his arm, one head was confused, and the other just poked its tongue out. “I need a favour okay?” Adwin whispered out his plan, and the snakes nodded. A moment later, Adwin’s hammer flew into the room as he too emerged from the darkness. As he barged in, his hammer slammed into the helmet of the decorated knight. Adwin always knew Peanut was a special snake, it was born with two heads yet didn’t die even through everything. Peanut was inseprable from each other, and that meant they were capable of much more than a regular snake. Peanut had stretched out to be longer than a rope, one head had its jaws on the hammer to pull it back, and the other bit onto Kai, who screamed like a baby, and pulled him back with it.

“Sorry about that guys, this idiot here was just leaving.” Adwin yelled out as he turned and ran, he knew whatever they stumbled onto wasn’t good, and even more that the knights wouldn’t let them go on a sorry. Adwin patted Peanut as they slithered back into his hair and passed out from a good days work.
“What the hell were you thinking?”
“LIsten I-”
“That was rhetorical dumbass, since when did we run into churches that look ancient?”
“I just wanted to explore…”
“And look where that got us.” Adwin pointed behind them, at least three knights followed behind them. Adwin sighed, but after a moment he stopped and dropped Kai, who clung to his leg and hid. Adwin of course kicked him off somewhere behind him. Hammer in one hand, sword in the other, Adwin stood ready to fight. The three knights stood their own ground, but Adwin was bigger than they were, and more muscled too. Just when Adwin thought they might not attack, one sprung forward. He was fast, but Adwin wasn’t slow himself, and with a step to the side, his hammer slammed into the side of the knight’s helmet. Kai cheered from the background, but Adwin couldn’t tell if he was crying, or just being stupid.
“Unless you wanna end up like this guy, I suggest your next decision doesn’t include me in it.” Adwin’s tone was serious, and the way he stood said he meant it. The knight’s both gulped in unison before dragging their brain-soup friend away and back to the church.
“Have we learned our lession about old churches?”
“No.” Kai spoke confidently, wel, until flashed his hammer in his direction.
“Have we learned our lesson?”
“Yes..” Kai puled himself up and leaned against Adwin. Adwin picked Kai up and threw him over his shoulder, Kai protested by punching his back, but it had zero effect. He eventually stopped after noticing Adwin’s snakes, and for the next hour played with them until the three were asleep. Adwin sighed as he dropped down near a tree to rest. He opened his satchel and pulled out a cloak, two cloths, and a heating pack of sorts. Carefully he wrapped Peanut in a cloth, placing them near the heating pack. Then, he placed Kai in his lap, and Peanut into Kai’s lap. Finally, he wrapped the cloak around all of them and only after watching the forest for an hour, did he finally let himself sleep. Adwin usually didn’t dream about much, but that night was different. He dreamed about being back home with his mother, and showing her how far he’d gotten. In his mind, that was why he followed Kai, and why he didn’t turn back. Kai on the otherhand, dreamt of whatever popped into his head. Peanut dreamt too, of having hands, so they could finally feed themselves. One thing clouded Adwin’s mind though, in his dream, not only was he with his mother, but this guy he just met too. Kai clouded a dream he’d had the same way over and over. Maybe Adwin had another reason, that even he didn’t know,  for going that he wouldn’t admit yet, and maybe, if things went right he’d get to one day.
