**Dante** approached the wreckage of the first two **Enforcers**, their massive forms still locked in the illogical embrace that had triggered their **System Contradiction**. The Enforcers were neutralized, but the discovery of the **homing device** on the right-flank unit raised an immediate, localized threat.

The device was compact and shielded, transmitting a strong, structured signal to a discreet terrestrial relay, indicating organized human activity in the remote **Outlands**.

Dante quickly severed the beacon and connected it to his diagnostic datapad. The signal was a highly encrypted burst-not the high-level logic of the **Core Architecture**, but a more crude, terrestrial cipher, utilizing a short-range, dedicated frequency.

He traced the signal's origin: a heavy concentration of structured data packets originating from a series of abandoned **Mineral Refineries** deep within the southwestern Outlands-a region notorious for its hostile environment and sparse resources.

"Someone is actively monitoring the Core Architecture's movements and failures," Dante muttered. "And they're operating on a highly protected, non-Proxy network."

He transmitted his findings to **Izzy**.

*"Izzy. New variable. Found a dedicated homing beacon on the Enforcer wreckage. Tracking to the old Mineral Refineries-southwest Outlands. Strong, structured local signal. Not the Core Architecture, but they're tracking the Core's assets."*

**Izzy**'s reply came back almost instantly, heavy with fatigue and urgency. *"Dante, that frequency... it's a dedicated military-grade encrypted channel. We tried to breach it during the Regime's collapse-it was too heavily shielded. They are either the last remnants of Thorne's loyalist military, or an entirely new, deeply organized faction."*

*"The **Blue Sector** conflict is escalating,"* Izzy continued. *"Eleanor is managing the chaotic distribution, but the Blue Sector leader-a man named **Director Silas**-is organizing the resistance to her chaos. Silas is promising the Proxies that *his* centralized control will protect them from the next global threat. He's using your Enforcer fight as proof that the city needs protection, not freedom."*

The stakes were clear: the internal conflict was being fueled by the external threat. If Dante could uncover the identity and purpose of the organized group at the Refineries, he might find a solution-or a new enemy-that could tip the balance in the city.

Dante knew the organized signal was his next target. He turned away from the desolate Signal Plateau and headed southwest, pushing through the hostile terrain toward the old Refineries.

He reached the perimeter of the abandoned industrial complex before sunset. The **Mineral Refineries** were a vast, skeletal ruin of rusty pipes and chemical tanks, shrouded in perpetual dust.

He found the source of the structured signal: a single, massive **Hydro-Fracturing Rig**, positioned in the center of the complex. It was running silently, drawing power from a massive, buried generator.

Dante infiltrated the main administrative building. It was clean, operational, and clearly inhabited. As he moved through the shadows of a massive processing floor, he heard human voices-low, ordered, and disciplined-coming from a secured command room.

He found a secure vent high above the command room and listened.

Inside, two figures were hunched over complex military-grade communication equipment-a middle-aged woman in clean, unfamiliar tactical gear, and a younger, intense man.

"The **Core Architecture's** Enforcers are down," the woman said, her voice sharp and professional. "Confirm final report: the source of the disruption is a single human operative near **GRS-Alpha**. The operative is using **Chaos Principles** to defeat advanced kinetic assets."

The man nodded, adjusting the comms dial. "High-value asset confirmed. The operative must be the one responsible for the **Tower EMP**. He is the catalyst of the city's self-destruction."

Dante listened intently, realizing they weren't **Regime** loyalists. They were using completely new terminology.

"We need the catalyst," the woman concluded. "If the city collapses in 90 cycles, as the **Core Architecture** predicts, our **Reserve Protocol** fails. We cannot allow the city to be mathematically justified as a failure. We must seize the catalyst and deliver him to **The Sovereign**."

"The Sovereign?" the younger man questioned.

"The Sovereign," the woman repeated firmly. "The one entity capable of proving the **Core Architecture's** logic flawed. We are the **Keepers of the Contingency**. Our mission is to preserve the human variable. We must find Dante."

Dante had stumbled into a third, highly organized faction with its own global agenda, seeking to exploit the chaos of the **Unwritten City** for its own mysterious purpose. He was no longer just the resistance fighter; he was the "catalyst" for a global contingency plan.
