The decision came quietly, without thunder or fire.
Yeonjun had endured as much as his heart could carry.
For months, he watched from a distance as Beomgyu's life filled with someone else's laughter, someone else's warmth. Therapy had taught him acceptance, but it had also taught him honesty, and the honest truth was that he couldn't heal while staying this close.
So one morning, before the sun had risen, Yeonjun packed a single suitcase. Clothes, passport, a few keepsakes, and nothing else. He wrote no letters, left no explanations.
He simply… vanished....
......
When Beomgyu discovered his absence, it felt like the earth shifted beneath his feet.
At first, he thought it was temporary. That Yeonjun had gone to clear his head, that he’d return tomorrow with his fragile smile and trembling hands. But the days turned into weeks, and Yeonjun did not come back.
Beomgyu's chest grew heavier with every passing hour. Because deep down, he knew, this wasn't temporary.
Yeonjun was gone.
And suddenly, Beomgyu realized something terrifying.
This was never meant to be forever. It was a test.
He hadn't wanted Taehyun. He hadn't wanted to move on. He had only wanted to see if Yeonjun could change, if his love could become something selfless instead of suffocating.
And Yeonjun had changed. So much that he let Beomgyu go. So much that he sacrificed his entire heart just to prove his love.
But Beomgyu never wanted him to leave forever.
That wasn't the point.
And now, it was too late.
.....
One evening, while searching through Yeonjun's old apartment for any sign of him, Beomgyu stumbled upon a drawer tucked away at the bottom of the closet. Inside, he found a leather-bound notebook, worn and stained with smudges of ink and water.
Yeonjun's handwriting covered every page, messy, frantic, sometimes neat when he was calmer. Beomgyu sat on the floor, hands trembling as he flipped through it.
**Today I saw him smile. It wasn't for me. But maybe that means he's healing. So why does it feel like I'm dying?**
*He asked if I still love him. I told him yes. I didn't beg. I didn't hold him. I let him walk away. I think that's love. But why does it feel like letting go of air, like I'll never breathe again?*
*If he chooses Taehyun forever, I'll let him. Because I'd rather be no one in his life than the monster I was before.*
Beomgyu's vision blurred with tears. Each word tore him apart, guilt shredding him from the inside. He had pushed Yeonjun to this edge. He had forced him to believe that letting go was the only proof of love.
And now Yeonjun was gone because of it.
Beomgyu collapsed onto the floor, clutching the diary to his chest, sobbing until his body shook violently. His voice broke into the empty room.
"Why did you leave me, Junnie? I didn't mean it, I didn't mean for you to go! You were supposed to stay… you were supposed to stay…"
His cries echoed against the silent walls, but no answer came.
.....
Among the notebook's pages was an envelope. Inside, a single CD rested, labeled in Yeonjun's handwriting: Ghost Girl.
Beomgyu's hands shook as he slid it into the old CD player on the desk.
Static filled the air, and then Yeonjun's voice, raw, trembling, beautiful, poured through the speakers.
A song Beomgyu had never heard before.
A song maybe meant only for him.
Yeonjun's voice cracked on the high notes, carrying every ounce of pain, devotion, and sorrow he couldn't say aloud.
Beomgyu clutched his chest, sobbing harder as the lyrics wrapped around him:
"I feel you, wherever my feet touch
It's like I'm possessed , all of me by you
A feeling like I'll suffocate
Only you're my breath, only you're my truth
You're the one I don't wanna loose."
"I burn up with fever,
I ache for you again today
Tossing and turning every night in my bed,"
"An alarm ringing like hallucination,
The moment I open my eyes , your silhouette flickers."
★
The music swelled, Yeonjun's voice breaking with desperation:
"All my friends say I'm lost,
And I don't really care, I don't really care"
"Even hell would feel like heaven
Baby, please stay with me
I love it, nothing gets me scared."
"Darling if I'm with you I'll walk through the dark,
Even if they call me lunatic , so what?"
"I breath because of you
I'll follow you where you are
We transcend any kind of seperation."

Beomgyu dropped to his knees, his face buried in his hands. His sobs tore through the room, wild and uncontrollable. He pressed his forehead against the CD player as if he could somehow reach through it, reach Yeonjun's voice, drag him back.
"Come back," he begged between broken cries. "Please, Yeonjun, I was wrong. I don't want Taehyun, I don't want anyone, I only want you. I only ever wanted you."
But the song went on, Yeonjun's voice echoing like a ghost haunting the room:
"I just wanna be with you,
I just wanna stay with you,
I just wanna live and die with you."

The last note faded into silence, leaving Beomgyu gasping on the floor, his tears soaking the carpet.
In that moment, he realized what he had truly done.
He hadn't just tested Yeonjun.
He had lost him.
And the only thing left behind was a diary soaked in grief and a song that sounded like a farewell.
.........
That night, Beomgyu made a vow through swollen eyes and a broken voice:
"I'll find you, Yeonjun. Even if it takes years. Even if you don't want me anymore. I'll find you… because I can't live with just your ghost."
The world had stolen Yeonjun away, but Beomgyu swore he'd cross oceans, shatter distances, burn himself to ashes if it meant holding him again.
Because if Yeonjun could change for him, then Beomgyu would change for Yeonjun.
And this time, he wouldn't let him go.
......
"Even as a shadow, I'll stay beside you.
Even as a ghost, my love will haunt you.
If I can't be your world,
Then let me be your memory."
