The grand hall was silent, except for the priest’s calm voice echoing against the marble walls.
Priest: “Do you take Kim Taehyung as your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, till death do you part?”
Jungkook’s lips curved into a small but certain smile. His heart thudded in his chest, yet his voice came out steady.
Jungkook: “Yes… I do.”
The priest turned to the other groom.
Priest: “Do you take Jeon Jungkook as your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, till death do you part?”
Taehyung’s gaze flickered toward Jungkook for the briefest moment—just enough to feel the weight of the decision they were both bound to now. His throat was dry, but his answer came out soft, almost a whisper, yet firm enough for the entire room to hear.
Taehyung: “Yes. I do.”
The priest smiled warmly.
Priest: “Then, by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husbands. You may seal your vows with a kiss.”
The audience erupted in murmurs of excitement. Cameras flashed, friends and family leaned forward with eager smiles. But for Jungkook and Taehyung, time seemed to slow.
They stood facing each other, really seeing one another for the first time as husbands. The air between them grew heavy with unspoken feelings. Jungkook’s dark eyes softened as he took a hesitant step closer, the sound of his polished shoes echoing in the stillness.
He reached for Taehyung’s hands—long, delicate fingers that trembled just slightly in his hold. Jungkook let his thumb brush over Taehyung’s knuckles, grounding him. His gaze lingered on Taehyung’s face—the curve of his lips, the nervous flutter of his lashes, the breathtaking beauty that almost made him forget to breathe.
Jungkook: “May I?”
The simple question made Taehyung’s heart stumble. His lips parted, and though his voice wavered, his answer was sincere.
Taehyung: “Y-yes…”
Closing his eyes tightly, Taehyung braced himself. But instead of claiming his lips, Jungkook leaned in slowly, pressing the gentlest kiss against Taehyung’s forehead. Warm, respectful, and tender—it wasn’t just a kiss, it was a silent promise.
The hall erupted into applause, cheers filling the air as the newlyweds stood at the altar—two souls bound by tradition, yet unknowingly stepping into a future where fate would guide them closer than either had ever imagined.
And in that moment, though their marriage had begun with arrangements and obligations, something unspoken sparked between them—a delicate beginning to a story neither of them had seen coming.
As the celebration drew to a close, they bid goodbye to their families and friends. With lingering smiles and hidden nerves, they finally slipped into the backseat of the sleek black car waiting for them.
The ride was long—too long. Silence weighed heavy inside, only the hum of the engine filling the space. Taehyung sat by the window, eyes glued to the blur of streetlights as emotions rushed like a storm within him: excitement, fear, disbelief. On the other side, Jungkook sat stiffly, staring ahead, his thoughts a whirlpool. Married. The word felt foreign on his tongue, yet now it was real.
After what felt like forever, the car finally slowed. Jungkook’s mansion loomed in the distance, glowing like a palace against the night.
They stepped out without a word, their bags placed carefully in front of the door by the driver before he left. Taehyung’s eyes widened as they entered—the high ceilings, glittering chandeliers, and polished floors seemed surreal. This was his new home. Their home.
Without much pause, they climbed the grand staircase. Jungkook pushed open a door, bags in hand, and stepped aside.
Jungkook: “This is our room.”
Taehyung nodded, his heart skipping at the word our. (Our room… our space… our life now.)
Inside, the room was warm and spacious, a blend of modern and classic luxury. Jungkook set the bags down and sat on the couch, loosening his tie.
Jungkook: “You can change and freshen up, Taehyung.”
Taehyung: “Yeah…”
Taehyung walked toward the large mirror. For a moment, he just stood there, staring at his reflection—the heavy traditional outfit draped over him, but heavier still were the thoughts pressing against his chest. He began removing his bracelets one by one, setting them neatly on the table. His gaze lingered on the simple silver band on his finger—their wedding ring. He brushed it gently with his thumb, feeling the weight of everything it represented.
Disappearing into the restroom, Taehyung took his time. Twenty minutes later, he peeked out cautiously.
Taehyung: “Umm… Jungkook?”
Jungkook: “Yeah?”
Taehyung: “…Can you help me with this pajama? Please?”
Jungkook rose immediately, walking to the door. Taehyung stepped out, clad in a soft matching pajama suit that made him look impossibly endearing. He turned slightly, showing the zipper he couldn’t quite reach.
Jungkook: “Oh… sure.”
He carefully zipped it up, fingers brushing lightly against Taehyung’s back. Taehyung’s eyes caught Jungkook’s reflection in the mirror, observing the quiet focus on his face. When Jungkook was done, he gently turned Taehyung around, resting his hands lightly on his shoulders.
For a moment, they just looked at each other. Jungkook leaned closer, tucking a stray lock of hair behind Taehyung’s ear. His breath brushed against Taehyung’s skin, sending shivers down his spine.
Unable to hold back the flood of emotion, Taehyung suddenly wrapped his arms around Jungkook’s torso, hugging him tightly. His head rested against Jungkook’s chest, eyes squeezed shut as though grounding himself in that moment.
Jungkook froze in surprise, but almost instantly, his arms came up to hold Taehyung, one hand gently caressing his soft brown hair.
Jungkook: “Are you okay?”
Taehyung: “Mm…”
They stayed like that for a while—two strangers bound as husbands, yet in that quiet embrace, something fragile and new began to bloom.
Finally, Jungkook pulled back slightly, his hand still resting on Taehyung’s shoulder.
Jungkook: “You should sleep now… you look tired.”
Taehyung: “…Yeah. You too.”
Jungkook: “Mm. I’ll go change.”
As Jungkook stepped toward the restroom, Taehyung climbed onto the bed, clutching a pillow close. His eyes flickered to the wedding ring once more before he let them drift shut.
And though the room was quiet, both of their hearts were anything but.
