Romance stood slightly aside, gently fixing his hair although it was always perfect and didn't really need to ever be fixed. He never looked rushed; his fingers moved like choreography. "If only one song gained so much attention, I could only imagine how it would be if we put out an entire album."
Jinu chuckled softly, still eyeing the television. "If we do an entire album the Honmoon would have been broken on release," he said confidently, as a clip on the TV showed a host slipping dramatically into a pool of pink foam. The laugh track roared. Jinu's subtle smile didn't quite reach his eyes. The sound of your giggling floated up from across the room, and it tugged his attention to a different channel entirely. He shifted his gaze.
Jinu's smile slowly relaxed seeing you mimicking the dance moves from earlier in front of a mirror with Mystery, who was smiling softly down at you while also dancing and Baby on the other side of you repeating the lyrics in an increasingly earnest falsetto.
Your reflection more exaggerated this time, cheeks puffed, lips pursed.
"My little soda pop! Very catchy!"
You chimed with a fit of giggles, your small arms flaring around to mimic the movements, tiny wrists cutting the air with fiercely serious intent.
Your chubby cheeks puffed out cutely and your lips pursed as you even attempted to mock their poses from earlier one hip jut, one head tilt; wobbling like a determined duckling. Baby mirrored you exactly, then added a dramatic hair flip; Mystery shook his head fondly, his smile the kind that softened the hard edges of a room.
"Jinu! Jinu! You'll dance with me wouldn't you? You promised!"
The distant voice of his little sister rang through his head, a memory not invited but stubborn. A younger Jinu, bare feet on wooden floors, a wind-up music box clicking, her hand tugging his sleeve.
"Dance with me, big brother!"
The ache was tiny and precise, a needle sewing through the past and catching at his ribs. He felt his chest tighten, swallowed thickly, blinked furiously to get rid of the unwanted memories and guilt.
He smoothed it away with a breath, slid on the mask that always fit. "And we of course have this gremlin to thank for using her cuteness." He walked toward you and ruffled your hair, white bows bouncing. You halted mid–hip-pop, blinking up at him.
"Yeah! Everyone loved my adorableness! I am powerful!" You threw both arms overhead, starfish-wide, (e/c) eyes round and gleaming with triumph. "Fear me! Muwhahahahaha!" You tried for an evil laugh; what came out was a hiccupy kitten giggle that made even the vanity bulbs feel soft.
Abby snorted out a laugh, failing spectacularly to keep a straight face. Baby hid his smile with his sleeve, shoulders shaking. Mystery clapped his hands softly to encourage your villain arc. "I think it's impossible to fear someone..." Abby began as he sauntered closer, crouching to your height, a rogue's grin threatening mutiny across his face. He gently flicked one of the white bows. It boinged.
"Who has white bows and wears a dress," Abby finished, voice syrupy with mockery. He tried to hold his laugh in as you leveled him with an indignant baby-glare. "You're just a wittle baby." He couldn't help it—he burst into a low, rich laugh that filled the dressing room.
Your cheeks went nuclear red. A sound rumbled up from somewhere ancient in your tiny ribcage, a small, startling animalistic growl and then you launched yourself at him like a rabid raccoon with a mission.
For half a second Abby was still laughing; the next he was staggering backward, arms pinwheeling.
"She's biting...H-Hey! she's biting!"
