The news didn’t break.
It exploded.

“Dispatch Exclusive: BLACKPINK’s Jisoo and BTS’s V in 8-Year Relationship.”

By morning, the internet was a battlefield. Hashtags trended worldwide. Some were filled with heartbreak, some with rage, but others with tears of joy.

Her throat was dry, heart pounding so loud she could barely hear anything else. Pictures flooded online, grainy yet damning. Taehyung’s hand on her lower back. Their masks pulled down while they smiled at each other in the shadows of a quiet street. And worse, Dispatch had dates attached. Proof of years worth of secret meetings.

Eight years of private moments, ripped apart in one headline.

Jisoo felt like she was suffocating. Her phone buzzed with calls she couldn’t answer. Her CEO, her manager, even her members. Every corner of the internet had their faces. Every memory of the last eight years dissected, analyzed, torn apart.

She sat curled on the floor of her room, blanket around her shoulders, until her phone buzzed again.

Tae 🐻” calling.

She answered with a trembling voice.
“T-Taehyung—”

“I’m coming over.” His tone was firm, steady in a way she wasn’t. “Stay inside. Don’t open for anyone else.”

And thirty minutes later, he was there.

She fell into his arms the moment the door shut behind him.

“What do we do?” Her voice cracked with panic. “Our fans, our companies — they’re going to hate us.”

He held her face, thumbs brushing her wet cheeks. “No more hiding, Jisoo. Eight years… don’t you think it’s enough?”

Her chest tightened. Eight years of stolen time. Meeting in empty parking lots. Holding hands only in the dark. Whispered I love you’s in places where no one could hear. She had prayed for freedom but feared the day it would come.

“They’ll think we betrayed them." She whispered.

Taehyung shook his head, steady and sure even as his own eyes glistened. “We didn’t betray anyone. We just loved each other quietly. And now… we can love each other out loud.”

The decision came that night. No more silence. No vague denials. No fake excuses. If the world already knew, then they would hear it from them.

A week later, at the same time, two letters appeared on Weverse and Instagram.

To ARMY,

I’m writing this with a heart heavier than usual, but also freer than it has ever been. For many years, I’ve given you my music, my performances, my smile. But I also carried a love I kept hidden, afraid of what it might mean for all of us.

Today, the world knows that love is Jisoo. For eight years, she has been my comfort, my laughter, my reason to stay grounded. We never meant to hurt you by keeping it a secret. We only wanted to protect something fragile and pure.

I understand some of you feel shocked, even betrayed. I accept those feelings with sincerity. But I ask you to believe me when I say that my love for ARMY has never been a lie. And my love for Jisoo will never been a mistake.

I want to keep singing for you, keep creating for you, while also being honest about who I am as a man, not just as an idol.

Please allow me this chance to be both.

With gratitude and love,
Taehyung

To BLINK,

When I first stood on stage as a trainee, I promised to give you my truest self. For many years, I believed that meant hiding pieces of my heart so I wouldn’t disappoint you. But after everything, I realized truth also means honesty.

The truth is, I have been in a relationship with Taehyung for eight years. He has been my strength in quiet moments, the shoulder I leaned on when the world became too heavy. Together, we protected our love in secret, because we didn’t want it to take away from the music, from the dreams we shared with you.

I know this news may feel sudden and difficult. I’m sorry if it hurt you. That was never our intention. But I also hope you can see that I am still Jisoo, the same person who laughs with you, sings for you, and treasures you deeply.

Please continue walking with me, even as I walk more honestly now.

With love,
Jisoo

When the letters went up, the internet erupted again. Some fans cried, some raged, but many… many simply stayed. Messages poured in.

Jisoo read them all through blurry eyes, curled against Taehyung on his couch. His arm was around her, his lips pressed to her hair.

“See?” He whispered, voice breaking but steady. “We survived it.”

And for the first time in eight years, Jisoo felt what freedom truly was — sitting in the arms of the man she loved, and not having to hide anymore.
