Dramatically Waiting

Hello! I have been away for a long time. My mental health took a turn for the worse and I had to go into treatment. I'm still in treatment but I realized I have chapters I posted on AO3 that are not posted here. I will be updating multiple stories.

A month later, they settled into another village, this one needing help with dealing with bandits. Some of the adults had died during the war, leaving many families to fend on their own and at high risk to robbers. Many homes had already been ransacked, and the women had tried to fight them off, but they still felt unsafe. Naruto immediately decided that they should stay for a while. He wanted to make the village as safe as possible for them.

Naruto was busy pulling some weeds, humming to himself when Kurama broke into his thoughts. After a lot of banter about his new relationship with Sasuke, he mentioned something that left him stunned. For the rest of the day, he felt like he was in a haze. How was he supposed to react when Kurama casually broke the news that he could have a baby? It was never in his realm of possibilities.

That night, Naruto shifted around, wondering how to bring it up. Sasuke had told him he'd given up on that dream, but... what if now he'd want kids? Naruto had always wanted a family. He had a lot of love to give and always wished to spend holidays and special moments with a family. He smiled to himself as he placed a hand on his stomach.

"What are you smiling about?" Sasuke asked as he turned off the light. "Did you do something bad?"

"No." Naruto wrinkled his nose.

Sasuke slipped into bed, and Naruto immediately rested his head on Sasuke's bare chest. He heard the gentle beating of Sasuke's heart and steeled himself.

"Kurama told me I can have kids."

Sasuke stilled from rubbing Naruto's back. "How?"

He shrugged as he hid his face in Sasuke's chest, not wanting to see the man's expression. "He said demons are born with being able to."

Sasuke stayed silent for a long time, "How do you feel about it?"

Naruto peeked at him, "I... want to. If it's okay with you."

He stared into Naruto's eyes, seeing the hope glimmering in there. "Are you sure?"

Naruto bit his lip, "Yeah, I really want to."

"Then we'll do it. I'd love to have kids with you."

"Really?" Naruto's eyes went wide and filled to the brim with tears.

Sasuke found it ridiculous that Naruto would ever think he'd never want to have a family with him. He had moved on from wanting to repopulate his clan, but now...

He replied, his voice filled with affection, "Of course. You're my one and only remember."

Naruto grinned as he drew shapes on Sasuke's toned stomach. "When do you want to try?"

"Whenever you want."

He waggled his eyebrows, "What if I say now? While traveling?"

"Then we'll figure it out."

Naruto looked at Sasuke seriously, "Then I want to."

"And then what happened?"

Sasuke gave Akemi a pointed stare, "You know what happened."
