Yeongbin laughed, though his shoulders were tense. "Hah!.. figures. The top student finally snapped. Guess brains don't fix crazy."

The gray room fell into silence again as the screen shifted.

CLASS OF 2022 UNIVERSITY ADMISSIONS

Seoul National University: 3

Yonsei University: 7

Sogang University: 5

But then the camera panned down, steady and slow until it landed on Si-eun. The image snapped to their school stairwell, walking up the steps with his bag slung over one shoulder.

'Quadratic formula. Arrange the unknown and the constant term on the left side in descending order...'

The image cut again. Now he was standing at the front of the class, chalk writing against the board.

'Place zero on the right side, resulting in ax squared plus by squared plus c equals zero.'

"Holy shit," someone whispered in the gray room. "They're letting us hear what he's thinking?"

"That's... that's creepy as hell."

"Dude's literally narrating math problems in his head. What the actual fuck."

"I mean.. not surprised. He's a walking calculator."

"You know, I thought I would get a break from math since we're stuck here."

A few chuckles broke out.

On-screen, Si-eun put down the chalk and returned to his seat, His teacher looked at him.

[Teacher] "Hey, Si-eun, Nice work there."

The screen zoomed in to sieun's handwriting.

Then the scene cut again, Si-eun walking down the hallway, his bag against his shoulder.

'Imo Mutiny, an uprising in 1882, in the 9th year of King Gojong's Joseon dynasty reign.'

The screen changed. Now, his classmates were shown, passing snacks down rows, chatting while Si-eun sat alone, writing notes.

'Soldiers of the old army rebelled against military reforms, unpaid wages, and discrimination compared to the modern Pyolgigun unit.'

Sieun was shown again, walking down the hallway.

'This triggered Heungseon Daewongun to seize power again.'

"Are you kidding me?" one boy groaned, dragging a hand down his face. "He's just... reciting history while walking? Who does that?"

A whistle slipped from one of the students watching. "Goddamn. He's got whole history in his brain."

Another muttered, "No wonder he's top of our class."

A boy beside him muttered, "Christ, he even thinks like a textbook."

Yeongbin snorted, rolling his eyes. "Or he's just pathetic. Doesn't know how to live like a normal person."

A few kids groaned out loud.

"Seriously? Now we're stuck in history class too?" one boy muttered, tossing his hands up.

The scene cut again. Lunchtime. Everyone else was eating, laughing, throwing bits of food at each other. Meanwhile Si-eun sat with chopsticks in one hand, pen in the other, reading notes.

'Active voice. The object of the active voice becomes the subject of the passive voice in pattern four. A pattern four sentence has two objects, so it can be written as two passive sentences with each object as subject.'

"Bro. Even during lunch?"

"Who the hell want to study while eating?"

"Apparently him."

"Guess that's how you end up top of the class. Freak."

"Hey. Hey. Enough. That's no way talking to your classmate" Suho shot a glare at the boy.

The scene changed. A blackboard appeared, a word written 'Mock Test: 13 Days'

Si-eun flipping the switch of the empty classroom, opening the blinds, he sat down, opened his book, and began to write.

Time lurched forward in fast motion, the empty space turning into a crowded one, filled with voices, laughter, shouts, and footsteps.

The room fell into a silence as everyone watched the scene.

"Tell me again, Why are they showing us all of this? Why him?"

Su-ho exhaled sharply, eyes on the screen.

"Because whoever's behind this wants us to. That's the point."

Yeongbin smirked, "Yeah? Then I'll say it straight, this is boring as hell. If this is the 'big observation,' then we're wasting our time."

Nobody laughed.
