Si-eun walked into the classroom as usual. He flicked the light switch on and pulled the blinds open. He sat at his desk and opened his notebook.
Time passed slowly. The minutes ticked by with the soft scratching of his pen and the occasional shuffle of his papers. Sieun liked it this way
Soon, the classroom began to fill with chatter. Voices and laughter grew louder as students arrived.
By lunchtime, he was in the cafeteria, tray on the table. Most students around him were chatting, laughing, and shoving food into their mouths without much thought. Meanwhile, Sieun preferred to study while eating. Pencil in one hand, Chopsticks in the other as he writes notes.
Then the dizziness hit. It started as a slight headache, but then the chatter and clatter of the cafeteria became muffled and his vision blurred. He gripped the edge of the table. 'What.. is this?' Panic went through Sieun's mind.
With blurry eyes, Sieun looked around and saw that everyone else was experiencing the same thing. His legs felt heavy, his body slumping forward. The noises faded.
-
Si-eun's stomach twisted as he slowly opened his eyes. The soft couch underneath him was unfamiliar, and the room around him was cold and gray. Nothing looked real, no windows, no doors, just walls, speakers, and a large TV screen at the end of the room that caught Sieun's attention.
"Holy- what the hell is this?" Su-ho shot upright, stumbling slightly. "Are we- did someone kidnap us?" He spun in circles, eyes wide.
Beom-seok stayed on his side of the couch, whispering rapidly, "I don't-t understand- what's going on- why am I here.." He tried hiding his panic, but failed miserably
Yeong-bin's voice was filled with annoyance. "Tch... don't tell me this is some prank. Somebody's watching us, right?" His eyes flicked toward the screen, then around the walls. He clenched his fists.
Several quieter students whispered nervously to each other, some pacing a few steps, others just staring at the walls. "Holy shit we got kidnapped, is this real?" one said.
Another shook their head in annoyance, "Are you an idiot? We wouldn't be here if we weren't kidnapped."
"I was just asking!" a student snapped, voice sharp with frustration.
"Stop being a damn idiot and pay attention to what's happening!" another shot back, glaring.
Suho stepped forward, his hands shoved inside his jacket. "Hey! Enough! Arguing isn't going to help anyone-"
Then a voice rang out through the speakers, echoing across the empty room.
"Welcome. You are now part of an observation. Everything you see, verything you do will be watched. Your focus will be on sieun, failure to comply may have consequences."
Silence fell over the room.
Su-ho's eyes narrowed "Observation? What the hell does that even mean?" His voice was tense.
Beom-seok flinched, pressing his back against the couch. He didn't know these people... Why was he here?
Sieun was quiet, his pen tapping quickly on the couch. 'Focus on me? No, I don't want this. I don't want my life watched by others or by anyone. Not like this.'
Heads turned. Students murmured, "Focus on Yeon Sieun?"
Yeongbin snorted, stepping closer to Si-eun, eyes sharp. "Hah... so this is what everyone's supposed to focus on? Sitting there like some scared little mouse?" He smirked "Come on, move. Do something interesting at least."
