Jay Jay's POV
The sound of my alarm mixed with the rustling of someone moving around the room. For a second, I forgot where I was—the sheets felt different, the air smelled faintly of pine and the faint dampness of morning. Then I heard someone giggle from the bathroom, and it hit me.
We’re at the resort. The trip has officially started.
I sat up, rubbing my eyes, and immediately
Hanna squealed, “Jay! Wake up, lazy! We’re going to miss breakfast!”
I laughed, grabbing my pillow and half-heartedly throwing it at her. The room was buzzing already—other two are fighting over the mirror all of us chattering about how fun the day would be. It felt like a sleepover and a school event all rolled into one.
But somewhere underneath the excitement, my chest tightened. Because I knew… right outside this room, across the hall, Keifer was waking up too.
“Jay, which shirt do you think looks better for games?”
“Pass me my comb!”
“Ahhh, my shoe’s missing!”
It was chaos, but the good kind. I helped Salena to braid her hair, Hanna find her socks, and tried not to laugh when one tripped over her own bag. When it was finally my turn at the mirror, I caught my reflection—my hair a little messy, cheeks still flushed from last night’s balcony moment I couldn’t get out of my head.
I took a deep breath, brushing my hair slowly. Act normal, Jay. Just act normal.
When we finally made it out, the hallway was already alive with voices and footsteps. And of course, fate wasn’t kind.
Keifer stepped out of Room 301 at the exact same time.
His friends—Aries, Yuri, Percy—spilled out behind him, joking and laughing, but my eyes locked on him first. He looked… too composed for someone who just woke up. Crisp shirt, hair neat, expression calm. Too calm.
And for a second, I swore his eyes flicked to me. Just for a heartbeat. Then he looked away, hands in his pockets, following his friends down the hall.
My friends didn’t notice. But I did. And my pulse wouldn’t settle
The dining hall smelled like hot chocolate, fried eggs, and bread. Long tables stretched across the room, and everyone gathered in noisy clusters. My friends dragged me to a table near the windows, and we laughed as we piled food onto our plates.
I tried to focus on them—on their jokes, on the taste of buttered toast, on the sunlight pouring in through the glass. But every time I lifted my eyes, I saw him.
Keifer. Sitting with Aries, Yuri, and Percy. Listening silently as Percy cracked jokes and Yuri teased the professors. Aries, as always, looked half-distracted but sharp, like he was keeping an eye on everything.
And then, as if sensing me, Keifer’s gaze brushed across the room. Met mine.
It was just a second. Just long enough to make me look away too fast, my cheeks burning
After breakfast, everyone gathered at the field. The grass was damp under my sneakers, the morning sun warm but gentle. Professors started explaining the first game, their voices half-lost in the chatter of excited students.
My friends squeezed my hands, bouncing in place, and I tried to match their energy. But my eyes strayed, searching.
And there he was—Keifer.
Standing with his friends, tall, collected, unreadable. Aries at his side, looking intimidating as ever. Yuri was grinning about something, Percy already warming up for the games.
