Standing near the entrance, Seona—her ever-efficient secretary—bowed politely. “Good morning, Vice President Kim.”
Jisoo’s lips curved into a warm smile, her tone casual despite her polished presence. “Good morning, Seona. How’s everything looking today?”
Seona straightened, clutching her tablet. “There are no scheduled meetings today, ma’am.” She gave a small nod, her expression calm and professional. “The only task requiring your attention is signing several documents related to tomorrow’s construction delivery. They’re important because the materials need to be cleared and approved before shipping.”
Jisoo hummed thoughtfully, adjusting the sleeves of her blazer as they began walking side by side toward the lobby. “Mhm, so no meetings… just paperwork.” She glanced at Seona with a faintly amused smile. “That almost sounds like a holiday.”
Seona allowed herself a small laugh, though she kept her tone respectful. “If you’d like, I can set the documents on your desk immediately so you can review them before lunch. That way the logistics team has plenty of time to prepare.”
Jisoo nodded in approval. “Good idea. Let’s do that. Once I sign, make sure the delivery is confirmed and double-check with the construction team—they’ve been moving faster than expected.”
“Yes, ma’am.” Seona made a quick note on her tablet.
As they entered the elevator, Jisoo leaned back slightly, exhaling softly. Her fingers brushed against the ring she wore—a delicate emerald-cut green diamond that caught the light with every subtle movement. Earlier that morning, while getting ready, she had carefully placed the heavier, more detailed ring in her safe, deciding it was best kept secure. For today, she chose to wear only the green embroidered one, its elegance simple enough to carry with her everywhere.
A faint smile tugged at her lips before she composed herself once more.
“Alright,” she said, straightening as the elevator ascended. “Let’s get those documents sorted first thing.”
Seona nodded crisply. “They’ll be ready on your desk in five minutes.”
The elevator doors opened, and with her usual poise, Jisoo stepped into her office floor, ready to slip seamlessly into her role as the composed, efficient businesswoman she was known to be.

An hour later, the quiet rustle of papers filled Jisoo’s office. She had gone through each document with sharp focus, her pen gliding across the pages as she signed off the final approvals. The city skyline spread wide beyond the tall glass windows, but her attention was still on the folder in front of her.
Finally, setting the pen down, she leaned back against her chair and massaged her temple lightly. Her stomach gave a faint protest, reminding her that she had skipped breakfast. With a sigh, she reached for the phone on her desk and pressed the button to call Seona in.
A soft knock came at the door moments later.
“Come in,” Jisoo called, her voice calm.
Seona stepped in, holding her tablet as always, ready to note down instructions. “Yes, ma’am?”
Jisoo gave her a small smile. “Seona, could you please get me some breakfast? Just a salad. Nothing else.”
“Yes, of course,” Seona replied immediately, tapping it onto her screen.
Jisoo paused, then glanced at her with a curious tilt of her head. “Also—what happened about the clothes I asked you to buy?”
Seona straightened, nodding quickly. “They were delivered early this morning. I’ve had them placed in your wardrobe at the residence. The boutique confirmed the alterations were done exactly as you requested.”
