The next morning, the shrill ring of her alarm echoed through the quiet room at precisely 6:00 a.m. Jisoo blinked slowly, her hand reaching out of habit to silence it. She lay still for a few seconds, staring at the ceiling. Another day. The same rhythm. No surprises.
She got up, moved through her morning routine like muscle memory—shower, skincare, tailored outfit, light makeup, hair perfectly tied back. Her breakfast was already waiting downstairs: eggs done just right, sliced fruits, and black coffee. Hwa-jin and Sooyya were both absent from the table, which wasn’t unusual.
By 8:10, she was seated in the back of the car, files open on her lap, reading through her agenda before she even reached the office.
Work began as soon as she walked through Elysian Properties’ glass doors. Meetings, project reviews, document signings—Jisoo handled them all without pause. She barely looked up from her desk when lunch hour came, but her PA reminded her gently, so she sighed, got up, and headed down to the employee lunch hall.
There was no sign of Taehyung today, and she was oddly relieved. Her tray had grilled chicken salad and a small fruit cup. She ate quickly, exchanged nods with familiar staff members, and returned to her office.
Afternoon hours passed in a blur of typing, reviewing architectural layouts, replying to long email threads. By 6:30 p.m., she was back in the car heading home, tired but never allowing it to show.
As soon as she arrived, she went straight to the gym. Same machines. Same reps. Same number of minutes.
Shower. Change into her silk nightwear. Dinner with Hwa-jin and Sooyya again—quiet, civil, forgettable.
Then came her brief escape: roaming in the garden under the soft golden lights, heels off, hands tucked into her robe’s pockets, eyes scanning the stars that dared to shine above the city haze. No one disturbed her here.
Finally, back to her room. Curtains drawn. A book left unfinished on the nightstand. She didn’t even pick it up.
She slid under the covers, stared at the ceiling again, and exhaled.
Another day gone.
Another to repeat tomorrow.

The next morning began no differently than the rest. Jisoo woke up before her alarm, already anticipating the shrill ring that never came. She got dressed in a crisp cream blouse tucked into charcoal high-waisted trousers, hair pulled back into a smooth low ponytail. Her heels clicked against the marble floor as she headed to breakfast, quiet and composed as always.
By 8:30 a.m., she was in her office, focused on reviewing presentations and correcting architectural flow diagrams for her ongoing project. Hours passed, and just as she was wrapping up a video call, her phone buzzed.
It was a message from Hwa-jin’s personal assistant:
“Ma’am, CEO Kim has instructed to inform you that tonight’s dinner is with Ms Sooyya’s in-laws. The car will be ready at 7. Please be on time.”
Jisoo stared at the screen for a few seconds before typing a brief “Okay” and setting her phone aside. Her fingers tightened slightly around her pen. Dinner with in-laws meant smiling politely, enduring small talk, and being… pleasant. She sighed softly and returned to work.
At exactly 7:00 p.m., the sleek black car was waiting downstairs. Jisoo stepped in, her long coat draped over her arm, her expression unreadable. Hwa-jin was already seated inside, her phone in one hand, discussing something with her assistant. They exchanged the usual nod, but no words.
