John was smoking a cigarette as usual. He looked up at the sky, staring into the dark stars as he thought about his situation deeply. Being a sheriff was a big pain in his ass. And things were not the best with him. Just recently, a cannibal and well-known serial killer, Bob Velseb, came out. And the Mayor has been on their ass for the last week about it. And he didn't like it at all.

This town only had two officers, who didn't include those dumbasses that made a mockery of everything related to law enforcement, John thought. How can I, along with another person, deal with a massive manhunt like the one with Bob? I have a lot of other things on my plate already! He wasn't taking it seriously at all.

He sighed and continued to smoke, his eyes looking up as he waited for his boyfriend to show up. The stars were so beautiful, a wonderful blue that glowed ever so amazingly. It honestly made John feel better. There was just something to do with how the stars were positioned, he guessed.

While he was thinking, he heard something from inside the house. It was Jack, walking around eating a donut while on a call with someone. At first, John didn't hear anything from the other side. But he didn't notice who was on the other side until Jack asked the most surprising question John didn't expect.

“So uhh, have you been seeing anyone? I want to ask you since John and I have been dating for a while,” Jack asked as he took another bite of his donut.

The voice took a while to respond, but John noticed that Jack changed it to speaker because he realized the voice as soon as it spoke. Or to be more accurate, she.

It was Patty who was currently speaking to Jack. She was in her usual grumpy, tired tone, sure. But she was also more… Happy than usual? John didn't know how or why. But he knew something was different. He heard Patty sigh before she replied to Jack.

“Yeah, I indeed am seeing someone,” Patty said bluntly. Her words made Jack widen his eyes with shock and surprise. “So uhhh Jack, don't freak out. But I got myself a girlfriend. And before you ask, no it's not like how girls call their friends girlfriends. Like I actually have a romantic partner girlfriend,”

Jack gasped dramatically as he heard that. He then smiled like an idiot as he continued to speak to Patty. John didn't know why, but Jack was honestly the most supportive person he had ever met. He remembered the times when he decided to get a kid's dog out of a tree it was stuck in somehow, the time he openly comforted a kid who got kidnapped, and gave him a donut. Hell, when John was too tired to get out of bed after confessing his love to him, Jack just kissed his forehead and carried him upstairs to hold him in his eventual sleep.

“You're a lesbian?” Jack asked with excitement and approval. Jack seemed to be very curious and “Honestly that's good for you Patty, does that mean you eat carpets like some rumors say, or-”

“Jack,” Patty said with a disappointed tone. She definitely knew that Jack would ask this due to ignorance more than any hatred. “That's a hurtful stereotype homophobes ask,”
“Oh,” Jack said, frowning for a bit. “Sorry about that,”

“It's ok, I knew you didn't know. Especially when you hyperfixate on your job like I know you do,” said Patty. “Anyways, I want to ask you if you and John are willing to join me for dinner this weekend. I found this restaurant a day ago and it's so good. I feel like you guys would enjoy it! Plus I think I need to show my girlfriend the two great people I work with. She calls you guys great from what I told her anyway,”

“Really?” Jack asked. “So would it be like a double date? Sweet! I'll tell John about it right away!”

“Great!” Patty said in a rare happy tone. “I'll tell her about it now! I'll see you later-”
