I wrote this short snippet of a story and would like to know if I should continue it. Feedback is greatly appreciated!!

Alright, here it goes...

“Why do you always wear that bandana around your face? Never seen you without it. You look like one of them rodeoers, all silly lookin’.” Nathaniel asked one night when the pair of them were out in the mountains chasing after some sort of lost memory of glory or maybe even freedom. The fire in front of them was blazing and the flames reached like fingers into the sky.
Joshua breathed slightly unsteady and wavering. “It’s the style nowadays, I suppose.” All was quiet for a moment until Nathaniel suddenly kicked an empty can into the void where the fire’s light didn’t reach.
“Both me and you know damn well that’s a lie.” He stood from his seat on a rotting stump and walked to where Joshua sat on the ground. Nathaniel loomed over Joshua’s crouched form, his thumbs in his pockets and a wry smirk on his face.
“Tell me the truth, mystery man. Won’t tell a soul. Not like there isn’t one to tell up here, but I won’t. Alright?” He cocked an eyebrow in Joshua's direction. He made a zippering motion near his lips and pretended to throw away an imaginary key.
“I ain’t gonna.” Joshua shook his head and his gaze remained attached to the gleaming fire. The shadows from the flame only cut deeper into the creases of their faces. Even though the red bandana hid most of his face, the white patterns dirtied with dust, a faint hint of smile played below Joshua's eyes, something that Nathaniel was sure not to miss.
Nathaniel whistled slowly, the calls of coyotes echoing back. “Then say it ain’t so… This man’s a coward!” He cupped his hands round his mouth to make the sound reach to all who could hear.
“Shut your mouth.” Joshua took his free hand and hit the side of Nathaniel's leg, intending to make the contact as light and brief as possible as a small laugh escaped his lips.
