We were still laughing about Suho throwing his shoe at Jeongchan when Ji Wu and I plopped down at our desks after lunch. My stomach hurt from both running and laughing, but Ji Wu was still buzzing with leftover energy, sprawled across her chair like she owned the place.

"You looked like you were about to die out there," she smirked, tying her hair back into a stubby ponytail.

"I did die," I muttered, dropping my head dramatically onto the desk. "This is my ghost talking to you right now."

"Cute," she said, poking my cheek until I swatted her hand away. "Guess I'll have to tell Hyeon you didn't survive PE."

I groaned. "He'll probably laugh."

"Oh, he will. He still tells people about the time you tripped during our school trip and rolled down the hill like a watermelon."

I lifted my head just enough to glare at her. "You're supposed to defend me, not bully me."

Ji Wu grinned, nudging her knee against mine under the desk. "That's what sisters are for."

I tried to hold a straight face, but failed, my lips twitching into a smile. That was the thing about Ji Wu—she could tease me until I wanted to throw something at her, but at the end of the day, she always made me feel like I wasn't alone.

"You know," I said, pulling my water bottle out, "sometimes I think you and Hyeon are exactly the same person."

She gasped, hand on her chest. "How dare you? That's the most offensive thing you've ever said to me."

"Tell me I'm wrong," I said, taking a sip.

She leaned across the desk, lowering her voice like she was about to confess a crime. "Okay, maybe a little. But don't tell him that. His ego's already taller than the school gate."

I laughed, nearly choking on my water. "You're exactly the same."

Ji Wu pushed my shoulder, but her grin gave her away. "Whatever. If I'm him, then you're the little sister I never asked for."

"Excuse me," I said, sitting up straighter. "I'm clearly the upgrade. You should be grateful the universe sent me."

She shook her head at me, but her smile softened. "I am, you know."

I blinked at her, caught off guard by the sudden seriousness in her voice. She meant it. And I felt it—between all the chaos of school, PE, Suho's late-night shifts, and Yeungbin's crew being assholes, Ji Wu was the one constant.

So, of course, I had to ruin the moment.

"I'm writing that down," I said, pulling out my notebook and pretending to scribble. "Ji Wu admits she's grateful. Historic day."

She groaned, covering her face. "Why do I even like you?"

"Because no one else would put up with you."
