Class ended at three, same as always.
Ji Wu was already headed toward the staff room—Ms. Lee was calling her over for something "urgent" that would definitely end with Ji Wu grading quizzes while her mom drank tea. Her brother was probably loitering upstairs with the older kids again, so she wasn't leaving any time soon.
I gathered my things slowly, half-distracted, half-exhausted. Most of the class had cleared out, just a few clusters of students chatting near the windows. I didn't realize Suho was still there until I felt a presence beside me.
"Hey," he said, casual like he hadn't threatened to kill someone two hours ago.
I glanced up. "Aren't you late for deliveries?"
"I've got time," he said, shifting the strap of his bag over one shoulder. "I'm heading that way anyway."
I narrowed my eyes. "What way?"
"Your way."
I blinked. "You memorized my address?"
"You texted it to Ji Wu once when you forgot your charger," he said. "She sent it to me when I had to drop your math notes last semester."
"That's a very specific memory."
He shrugged. "I don't forget things."
I raised an eyebrow. "So what—you want to walk me home now?"
"I've got my bike."
I stared at him. "You want to drive me home?"
He scratched the back of his neck, eyes flicking toward the floor, then back up. "Yeah. I mean... after earlier. I just figured it'd be better if someone had your back. Just in case."
There was something about the way he said it—like he was trying not to make a big deal out of it, but still couldn't quite hide how much it was one.
I looked down at my bag, then back up at him. His expression was unreadable, but steady. Not pushy. Just there. Solid.
"Okay," I said quietly.
He blinked. "Okay?"
"Yeah. Just... don't crash."
He smirked, already turning toward the door. "Wouldn't dare."
As we walked out together, I didn't say anything more, and neither did he. But I noticed the way he slowed his pace to match mine. The way he stayed just close enough, like a quiet shield between me and the world.
