The day was like any other, Jenna Silver was sat staring into nothing as one of the many YouTube videos she has on repeat played on the tv in the background. This had become every day life for her: wake up, eat , stare into nothing , repeat.

Life had felt still and stagnant for months now. An endless cycle of repeating and nothingness since January 6th to be precise. Jenna knew the reason why, it weighed down on her like an elephant that had all four feet on her chest and no matter what she did, it wouldn't budge.

January 6th had been the day her heart got broken into thousands of pieces to the point it was just a burning pile of ash. Her girlfriend of the last 6 months had called her, and out of the blue ended things, no explanation, no reason, just DONE. Jenna had put her whole heart into the relationship, it being her first with a girl since coming out as bisexual it felt different, more meaningful almost. She had felt invincible, like nothing and no-one could hurt her. She had her girl and she could be her authentic self finally after years of being in the closet.

Anna had promised her the world, even got down on one knee at the new years party they had gone to, and promised Jenna that 2023 was going to be their year. A year of love, adventure and fun.

However 6 days later, on a rainy January 6th afternoon, Anna had called rambling about their future, or more specifically her own, and now it didn't involve Jenna.

Jenna's whole world felt like it stopped that day and even now 4 months on it hadn't restarted again. Like the earth had stopped spinning on its axis and was now just a floating planet, Jenna found herself inhabiting it.

So here she was, staring into space like any other day. Her mind swirling with unanswered questions, "what if's" and hurt. The only thing that seemed to take the edge off, to quiet her mind for more than 5 seconds so she could sleep, was drinking energy drinks and alcohol. She hated that she had become so reliant on drinking this poison. She had seen what the stuff had done to her parents. Growing up with parents who, when faced with any kind of extreme emotion, turned to drinking. It had taught her the only way she knew would help her feel a little more human in the dark storm that was her thoughts, and that was to drink.

She stood and walked to the kitchen, taking her phone with her as more of a habit then a need. She hadn't been on it really in months, instead using it to check the time or, if god forbid if she got a call from Anna.

Opening the fridge the familiar sight of the large black and green cans greet her, her mind already feeling clearer just knowing she was about to feel some peace.

The cold fizzy liquid is already running down Jenna's throat before she can even leave the kitchen as she takes bigger gulps then she can even handle, in an effort to get to the feeling of calm sooner, before she sits back on the spot on her sofa she is sure has moulded to the shape of her at this point, her phone pings from next to her.

She can't help but almost dive for it, her subconscious telling her its Anna telling her she made a mistake. However when its just a notification from the social media account of her favourite band BROKEN, she almost just throws the phone back down again, but something stops her. A unknowing force pulling her to open the notification up and see what it is. Jenna hadn't felt this kind of pull in months, the last time she felt it being when she first asked Anna to be her girlfriend, the memory feeling like another punch to the chest.
