"Looks like it might rain," Rob muttered. June looked to her right to see her friend with a slight scowl on his face. She followed his gaze up at the clouds, "No, they're just passing i think." "I hope so," he didn't sound convinced.

Tonight was big for them. Not just another pub gig, not a last-minute support slot or a dingy dive bar with dodgy wiring. Since releasing I Want You and playing every hole-in-the-wall they could find, the band had finally started to gain traction. Real momentum. This was their first actual venue show, tickets sold, names on the lineup, proper soundcheck, the whole thing. It wasn't massive, but it felt massive. And it clearly meant everything.

June pulled her coat tighter around her. It was colder than expected. Inside, she could hear Elijah's muffled laugh, Ryan tapping out a beat on whatever surface was closest, Josh humming something under his breath. The girls were all here, lingering just outside the venue, not quite ready to go in yet. They were stalling, maybe, not from nerves but from the weight of it. Tonight, everything changed a little. Maybe a lot.

Their manager had said it, "This could be the start of something." June didn't know what "something" meant exactly, but she was beginning to believe it.

The backstage door creaked open, "You okay?" Rob asked. More to himself.

She looked over at him. His hair was a little messy from the wind, guitar case over one shoulder, hands shoved in his jacket pockets. He looked equal parts rockstar and nervous wreck.

"Yeah," June smiled. "You?"

Rob shrugged one shoulder. "Ask me again in twenty minutes."

Inside the venue, the buzz of the crowd grew louder, not pub noise, but actual anticipation. June suddenly felt it deep in her chest. She thought about the first time she saw them play after they became friends, how raw and joyful it was. How Elijah lit up on stage, how Rob stood steady with his bass like it was part of him. Josh shredding every solo like he invented the guitar. And Ryan, always tucked in the back but it never dimming his performance. How she never imagined she'd be part of it all. And yet here she was, side stage, friends with the band everyone in that room came to see.

As they moved to go inside, Noora nudged her. "This feels like the beginning of something, doesn't it?"

June nodded, but said nothing. It wasn't just the band that was changing. Everything was.
