"Wow," Ink said with a knowing smirk. "And who’s the lucky co-star?"
"June."
Ink raised an eyebrow. "June Varokornwatcharakool? The same June who’s allergic to your entire existence?"
"The very one."
"And you’re… happy about this?"
Enjoy flopped down onto the couch, feet up on the table, sipping from her iced tea. "Look, do I think she hates my guts? Yes. Did she once call me a 'walking headline' under her breath at an event? Probably. But that just means the tension is real. Fans are gonna eat it up."
"You’re playing with fire."
"I am the fire," Enjoy said, pointing at herself dramatically. "Besides, this role is everything. It’s not some soft fluff story. It’s complicated. Deep. The kind of thing that gets adapted into films and wins awards. I can behave for three months. Maybe."
Ink snorted. "I give you two weeks."

The table read was held in a sleek rehearsal studio downtown, where the windows stretched floor-to-ceiling and filtered sunlight onto polished floors. Staff bustled about setting up water bottles, taping name cards to chairs, and prepping the script packets.
June arrived fifteen minutes early. She always did. Her manager called it control. June called it professionalism.
She chose the chair nearest the center and flipped open her script, pretending to read while noting every entrance. Every movement. She was calm. Composed.
Until the door opened.
Enjoy walked in like she was arriving at a karaoke night, not a professional meeting. Black hoodie. No makeup. Her black-and-blonde hair tied in a messy bun under a cap. And in her hand? A giant iced coffee with double whipped cream.
June didn’t look up. She didn’t need to. She knew the footsteps, the exaggerated sighs, the unnecessary slurping sound.
"Well, if it isn’t my favorite scene partner," Enjoy said as she dropped into the seat beside her.
June turned one page. "You’re late."
"I’m here, aren’t I? That’s what matters."
"You should take this seriously."
"I am," Enjoy said, grinning. "You just don’t like my style."
They didn’t look at each other, but everyone else looked at them. The staff exchanged quick glances. The director leaned back with a satisfied smile.
The chemistry was there. Not romantic. Not yet. But it was real. And that was all they needed.
"Let’s begin the read," the director announced.
Voices quieted. Scripts were raised.
June took a deep breath.
"Scene one. Int. Rainy alley. Sun and Rain run into each other for the first time in years..."
Their characters were strangers turned lovers, ex-best friends torn apart by secrets and reunited by fate.
But as June read her lines, she could feel Enjoy watching her. Not with admiration. Not with hate.
With curiosity.
Like she was a puzzle Enjoy intended to solve.
---
After the reading, staff clapped. The director beamed.
"That was exactly the tension we were hoping for. June, Enjoy, incredible job. I can already tell this show’s going to be special."
June offered a polite smile. Enjoy winked.
When they exited the building, it was just the two of them walking toward the lot. The tension had followed them like a shadow.
"You were good in there," Enjoy said casually.
"I know."
Enjoy chuckled. "Still as charming as ever."
June stopped beside her car, keys already in hand. "Listen. I don’t care how many followers you have. Or how often you trend. Don’t mess this up for me."
Enjoy tilted her head, amused. "Don’t worry. I wouldn’t dare ruin Miss Perfect’s big break."
June opened her door. "We don’t have to like each other. But we will make this work. Understand?"
"Loud and clear, sunshine."
The door shut.
Enjoy watched the car pull away.
Her smile faded for a moment. Then returned, softer this time.
"Game on," she whispered.
