THE COLONY

THE COLONY PART 1: TUNNEL

Mazey has never had any issues with bugs or insects. Mazey's house has always been critter free. Though at some point she has wondered why that is, she can't help but be thankful that she just doesn't. Although, this can sometimes cause Mazey to be a bit lazy and forget a half eaten fruit or two, but still no bugs. After years and years of not having to worry about any bugs, Mazey gets lazy again, and leaves her half eaten banana on the dining table, without a second thought and goes back to sleep. As the day goes by one fruit fly appears, flies on the banana peel, and begins to eat away. Then another comes, and another, and another. It got so bad to the point where Mazey woke up to a swarm of fruit flies surrounding the one banana she left on the dining table. Mazey immediately gets overwhelmed by the amount, and grabs her fly spray, successfully killing the entire swarm of fruit flies. After killing the swarm Mazey feels burnt out and decides to go back to bed.

Mazey wakes up the next day still feeling exhausted from having to put out the swarm, but when she tries to go back to sleep she hears something banging against the wall of her basement. Mazey gets up from her bed and checks it out. To Mazey's surprise she doesn't see anything, but her baskets of laundry near the washer. She finally looks across the room and sees a tunnel that seems like it could potentially lead to a secret place inside the walls. Mazey's curiosity gets the best of her, so she crawls into the tunnel not knowing what to expect. All of sudden Mazey starts to hear this loud buzzing noise coming from the end of the tunnel. The buzzing gets louder as Mazey gets closer. 

Mazey gets to the end of the tunnel and all of the buzzing just stops, leaving Mazey on edge for what could possibly be inside this secret place within her walls. Mazey looks up and to her surprise she sees an entire colony of fruit flies, something she's never even heard of before. It takes Mazey a second to realize that the secret place within her walls is the colony itself; And the size of these fruit flies aren't the size of just any normal fly, but the same size as the average human.

Mazey is horrified, and tries to escape, but she looks over to see a pile of dead bodies stacked on top of eachother, and before she can take another step a group of average sized, and human sized fruit flies pick her up, and throw her on top of the pile of dead bodies lying in the corner of the colony.

Mazey looks over to see them eating someone's body from the inside out. Then Mazey turns and looks up to see a group of fruit flies from the colony just staring at her. Mazey is confused why they're all just watching her, so she tries to get up, but before she can even find the strength to a swarm of average sized fruit flies from the colony fly inside Mazey, feasting on her from the inside, while all of the human sized fruit flies watch as they prepare for the next victim. This may be the end of humanity, but this is just the beginning of the colony.
