'they taught us to control our tempers. They never said what to do when the world swung first'
Minho entered the classroom early, as usual. He walked to his desk and noticed that there was a letter on it. Or more like a photo in an envelope.
The photo of him in his hood at Jeongin's last fight. He wanted to swear why did he even go there but it was too late to undo things. He needed to know who did this.
📖
"Guys, I need a fight. Honestly, I need money," Hyunjin admitted during lunch.
"I already told you I'll ask Razor about it." Jeongin looked at Seungmin confused. "We don't organize fights ourselves, there are people above us taking care of this. Well, not exactly above us, but they deal with technical matters."
"You can just ask for a fight?" He continued to ask because he got his first fight just by Seungmin asking if he wanted to.
"Yeah, but we usually don't do this. They inform us when there is a strong opponent or a good occasion to earn a lot of money."
"Nice." Jeongin nodded.
"Did you already ask them?"
"I will this evening. I have a meeting with Razor."
"Can I go with you?" Jisung asked out of nowhere, nobody knew about the message he received, and he thought it would be a perfect opportunity to find out something.
"I mean, if you really want to. I need some company anyway, so this time it can be you, not Hyunjin, accompanying me." Seungmin shrugged.
"Take care of my baby Han." Hyunjin sent him a cold, fierce stare.
"No need to worry, drama queen, everything's gonna be alright."
📖
The evening came. Jisung hoped their meeting would end before his gym time so he could still see Minho. He debated if he should text him, but finally he didn't do anything.
What would he even write? He just felt like he should say something, that there were too many things between them to stay silent. But Jisung had to concentrate on important things first, and Minho being on his mind was a distraction.
"Haven't seen you with anyone different than Hwang for quite a long time." The man with a scar across half the cheek greeted them. The man they called Razor. He already graduated from their university, but he started his business as a third-year. It didn't gain much attention from students, though. Until someone appeared. They appeared. Stray Kids.
Their relationship was with mutual benefits, but Razor still wasn't a person they would trust. So Jisung tried to feel the cold gun in his jacket to feel somehow safer.
"He's hoping you'll find him a good opponent, but he's a bit too emotional with it, so today I'm with Han."
"Let's get down to things." He sat at the table. It was the same table that people bet on the winner at every fight since they found this place.
"Who do you have to offer?"
They discussed about each candidat briefly. Who would attract the most people, who had the lowest chances in winning, and chose the best one.
"Thank you for cooperating. We'll organize the fight within the week."
"No cameras and journalists, right?" Jisung looked in Razor's eyes to find out something more.
"Of course, it's no joke, we don't want the situation with police to repeat."
He nodded, not very satisfied, and they went their ways.
Later, he separated from Seungmin, who went to tell Hyunjin happy news.
"So it wasn't him." Jisung said when he was alone, walking back home confused and wary.
📖
Jisung was walking extremely stressed all day.
"Sung, is there something you're worrying about?" Jeongin looked at him before the fight.
"Yeah, I wanted to ask you that all day." Felix also looked at them and waited for an answer.
"I'm just stressed that what happened at my fight will repeat." He lied. He was worried that someone would take photos, so they would have a whole file against them. "We'll talk about it after the fight."
"Okay." They observed Seungmin kiss his boyfriend and join them on the balcony.
"What?" He didn't understand the looks he was getting.
"Nothing. Completely nothing."
"You rarely show your love to Hyun, to be honest, it was a rare sight." Felix, who had no filter, revealed what they were thinking.
"You know I love him. And he knows too. That kiss was just to increase his self-confidence."
"Cute."
"Do you think your lecturer will be here today?" Seungmin turned to Jisung.
"I don't think so. He rarely goes to our fights."
"I was almost sure that I saw him the last time."
"For a moment I thought I did too, but maybe it wasn't him."
"Does he trust you enough to tell you something important?"
"I'm very close to getting information."
Seungmin nodded, clenching his fists tightly after seeing Hyunjin in the ring.
He had many admirers and fangirls near the ring, but it didn't stop him from being brutal.
"Ouch, Hyun always punches strongly."
"How do you know that?" Jeongin narrowed his eyes while looking at Jisung.
"Let's say we didn't start well."
"He tried to steal Hyunjin's wallet and got beaten up for this."
"I wasn't beaten up, I just got punched a few times. It was before I started going to gym, I had a fragile body, and I really needed money. Hyunjin is rich, so he had money."
"Sometimes even being rich doesn't help." Seungmin sighed, concentrating on the fight again.
It was rather a quick win. Not a knockout, because the audience didn't like it, but it was obvious that Hyunjin was controlling the whole thing.
"And the winner is Jiniret!" The host rose Hyunjin's hand.
He had a moment to admire people cheering his name and falling into euphoria before he got punched again.
"What the fuck is happening?!" Jisung yelled through the screams that broke out.
The loser, who was supposed to be unconscious, succeeded in standing up and resuming the fight. The host wasn't built like a fighter, but he tried to help.
With no effects, because the man succeeded in striking Hyunjin several times in his face before his senses registered what was happening.
Hyunjin threw the man from his body, and when Seungmin arrived at the ring, he made sure that the opponent wouldn't wake up and rise again.
"Seung, you'll kill him." Felix took the boy off the man, who looked terrible with blood all over his face.
People cheered loudly when Seungmin and Hyunjin hugged and shouted at them to kiss.
Jisung looked at the unconscious body. It didn't have any signs of gang affiliation, yet the night could end terribly wrong because of him.
