Adaa sat silently by the window for a few long minutes, staring out into the stillness of the night. But her mind was anything but still. Suddenly, without warning, she stood up, dusted her palms on her pyjamas, and turned to Teju with fire in her eyes.
Adaa: “Get up. We’re going.”
Teju, who was curled on the bed half-asleep, blinked. “What? Where?”
Adaa: “Kundra Mansion.”
Teju sat up, alarmed. “Are you out of your mind? It’s midnight!”
Adaa folded her arms. “Exactly why we’re going. I need to talk to Omi now. Not tomorrow. Not later. I need to end this confusion.”
Teju rubbed her face, still processing. “Adaa, it’s too late. We’ll wake up the whole house. What if—”
Adaa cut her off, already grabbing her jacket. “Are you coming with me or should I go solo like a movie heroine?”
Teju had no choice. She sighed, dragging herself off the bed. “Fine. Let me at least tell Veer.”
She tiptoed to Veer’s room, gently knocked, and whispered the plan. Veer, half-asleep, just waved her off and mumbled, “Don’t get caught. Take care of yourself.”
Within minutes, the two girls sneaked out of the house into the cool night air, heading straight for the Kundra Mansion. The roads were quiet, the city asleep—but the storm in their hearts was wide awake.

As they reached the mansion, they stood in front of the tall gate.
Adaa looked at Teju.
Teju immediately read her expression. “No. No, we’re not doing that.”
Adaa: “Yes. Yes, we are. We’re breaking in.”
Teju: “We don’t even know which room is Omi’s!”
Adaa: “Exactly. That’s the fun part. It could be Omi. Could be Karan jiju. Could be Yuvi. It's super fun, come let's go.”
Teju gave her a tired look. “Why do I feel like this is going to end in disaster?”
But before she could protest further, Adaa had already walked around the back of the house, scanning the windows like a pro thief.
And lucky them—the kitchen window was slightly open.
Adaa smirked. “See? Even the universe wants me to confront him.”
She climbed in first, landing inside with a soft thud. Teju followed, far less gracefully, nearly knocking over a saucepan.
Teju (whispering): “We’re going to get arrested in our own fiancé’s house.”
Adaa waved her off and tiptoed toward the stairs. They made their way up, both on edge, both stifling their laughter.
Finally, they reached a hallway with three doors.
Adaa: “Let’s try this one.”
Teju: “Please don’t—”
Adaa knocked boldly. The door creaked open, and out came very sleepy, very confused Yuvi. She was shocked to see them here.
Yuvi blinked hard, staring at them like she was still dreaming. “Teju bhabhi? Adaa ma’am?”
Teju held up her hands. “Sorry! Wrong door. We’re looking for Omi’s room.”
Yuvi, too sleepy to even question them, pointed to her left. “That one. And if you get lost again, right is Karan bhai’s room. You’re welcome. I need my gift later... Good night.”
