The long, teakwood breakfast table stretched across the lavish dining hall of the Dhoni Mansion. Sunlight poured through the sheer white curtains, catching the shine of silver cutlery and the faint steam rising from ceramic coffee mugs.

Dadaji entered with his usual understated authority — a light thump of his cane preceding him as all conversation at the table lulled.

Mahi sat at the head, dressed sharp even for breakfast, scrolling through his phone with a faint, unreadable smirk. Virat was halfway through his omelette, playfully flicking crumbs toward Rohit, who looked dishevelled and bleary-eyed, nursing his coffee like it was oxygen.

Dadaji cleared his throat, and all three sets of eyes shifted toward him.

“The girls have arrived,” Dadaji announced, voice steady, cane tapping lightly against the marble floor. “They’re staying at the guest bungalow for now.”

Virat quirked an eyebrow. Rohit groaned. Mahi barely looked up, but the corner of his lips curled knowingly.

“I would highly appreciate it if all three of you behave,” Dadaji added, eyes narrowing as he pointedly looked at Virat and Rohit. “Which, knowing your mental age, is wishful thinking.”

Virat sat up straighter, hand pressed to his chest, mock scandalized.
“Dadaji! That’s harsh.”

Dadaji wasn’t done. His gaze slid to Rohit, whose sleepy grin widened mischievously.

“You two stopped growing after six,” Dadaji deadpanned, then shifted his eyes to Mahi, “And you… after ten.”

Mahi smirked unapologetically, finally putting his phone down.
“Why fix what isn’t broken, Dadaji?”

Dadaji rolled his eyes but continued, tone firm.
“Regardless of your emotional handicaps—tonight, sharp at 8:00 pm, you will meet the girls. I expect respect. No games. No power plays. Understood?”

Mahi's reply was cool, effortless, dismissive.
“Okay.”
Nothing more, as if the entire conversation barely deserved his energy.

Virat and Rohit exchanged a glance, already plotting trouble, but before they could open their mouths, Dadaji leaned in, voice dropping in warning.

“And don’t do anything stupid.” His eyes sharpened as they slid between the younger two.

Virat held up his hands in defense.
“We never do stupid things, Dadaji.”

Rohit nodded in agreement, expression almost saintly.
“We’re the definition of class and dignity.”

Dadaji snorted, unconvinced, turning away as they all chuckled — the familiar banter echoing off the grand walls of the estate.

But beneath the humour, the air simmered with something else.

As Dadaji’s footsteps faded down the hall, the playful energy snapped right back into place.

Virat leaned over the table toward Mahi, eyes wide, pupils glinting with childlike mischief, his tone exaggeratedly innocent.
“Mahi Bhai… are we really not going to cause any trouble today?”
His lower lip jutted out slightly in a practiced, perfect puppy eyes expression—the same one that got him out of trouble with Nandini a hundred times before and melted Mahi's heart, occasionally.

Across the table, Rohit mirrored the look—wide eyes, dramatic frown lines creased onto his face as he clasped his hands together like a begging schoolboy.
“Yeah, Bhai. Are we turning into civilized adults now? That sounds exhausting.”
