Bit by bit, I Fall

I think of him in quiet hours,
A steady beat, like rain on flowers.
Day by day, he's taking space,
Filling corners I can't replace.

Bit by bit, I find I'm falling,
To his laugh, his words, his silent calling.
Each glance, each thread, begins to bind,
A future of him inside my mind.

I see us there, in years ahead,
Through storms, through calm, where life has led.
I pray each night with whispered air,
That God will thread us as a pair.

From miles apart, I talk to him,
In scattered words, in hopes grown thin.
Will he be my lesson, heartbreak's art?
Or my till-the-end, my forever start?

But even now, I am at peace,
With what we have, with this heart's lease.
I am loyal—he made me so,
I am faithful—he taught me to grow.

And still I pray with quiet tether,
That God will win us both together.
