He will understand,

that I'm afraid

to be alone.

So, he won't ever leave me.

He will understand,

that I'm addicted to ice cream

and rehabilitation is impossible.

So, he will become, for me,

an even greater addiction

for which rehabilitation is an even greater impossibility.

He will understand,

that I don't like secrets

and that I refuse to be one.

So, he won't lie to me

and will drag me;

voluntarily or otherwise

to meet those who matter most to him.

Then I will know,

that in his heart I hold a place.

He will understand

that I'd rather lick my lips

constantly, than wear lip gloss.

So, he will kiss me just as often

to keep them moist.

(You know,

because he's just that considerate.)

He will understand,

that I love Batman,

and superheroes,

hate most comedies

and most romantic films;

phobic of large crowds and parties.

So, we'll spend our nights

on our couch

watching the Batman Trilogy

or some horror or thriller;

with me wrapped in his warm embrace.

He will understand

that I love to cook and to draw

and that I'm good at both.

So, he will develop a big appetite

and critique my sketch books.

He will understand,

that I spoil those I love

So, he will let me

take care of him.

He will understand

that I'm affectionate.

So, he will enjoy my kisses

and love holding my hands.

He will understand

that every dirty edge,

ridged corner and golden blotch

of my personality

is who I am.

So, he will love me for it.

And for a man

who will love me for me

and inspite of me,

I would pluck,

from the the heavens,

a thousand stars.
