Day 2, 2:03 AM
Iris: Are you awake?
Sam: Absolutely not, what do you want
Iris: I tried to take a sexy pic and almost fell off the bed.
Sam: Send it anyway. If I see a toe, I’m still gonna lose it.

By Day 3, it had gotten feral.
Iris had watched Sam’s lullaby video twelve times. Sam had written a whole list of “Things I Will Do To Iris When I Get Home (Rated & Color-Coded).”
Jamie found it.
“Dude,” he whispered. “What is this? A smut spreadsheet?!”
“Don’t open the red section,” Sam warned gravely.

Risky Video Call – Day 3, 6:28 PM
It started sweet.
Iris laying in bed, rubbing her bump.
Sam grinning from a hotel chair, hair a mess, dark circles under his eyes.
“I hate being away from you,” he said.
“I know. I hate it, too.”
Then she whispered something into the mic that made his jaw drop and his pupils dilate like he’d seen God.
He got up. Locked the door. Took off his shirt.
They were five minutes into visual sin when—
“JAMIE: Bro we need—OH MY GOD—”
Screen off. Panic. Apologies. Jamie’s soul left his body and is still wandering the hotel hallway.
---
Airport Reunion
Sam spotted her from twenty feet away and full-sprinted like an idiot in a romcom. People stared.
Iris dropped her bag and ran right into him, almost knocking him over.
He held her like the world was ending and whispered, “Don’t ever let me leave again.”
“Deal.”
He kissed her like she was air. Like salvation.
People clapped. Someone whistled. They didn’t care.
