Memory Fragment: Kenjiro Hayasaka (Part 1)

Start from the beginning

Suddenly, the hallway monitor grabs my wrists and spins me around, throwing me into an empty clubroom.

"Ow! What the hell was that for?!" I said after getting thrown into a bookshelf.

The hallway monitor looks around before entering the clubroom and closing the door.

"It's about your poster. I've been seeing them all over the school."

He approached me with an unreadable face as I backed away.

"Hey, hey, you don't have to beat me up or anything! Just please don't beat me until I have bruises everywhere!" I put my hands over my face and shut my eyes.

Suddenly, the hallway monitor extends his hand out and remains quiet.

"I wanna be your drummer."

"What?" I slowly open my eyes and move my hands away.

"I wanna be your drummer. Are you deaf? Do I have to repeat?"

"No, not at all. I'm just, surprised." I take his hand and stand up with his help.

"Sorry I was rough on you. I... Didn't mean to. I just wanted to talk to you, but I didn't know if you would run away like yesterday."

"Oh, ahaha. It's alright..."

"I'm Daisuke Sato. May I join your band?"

I hesitate to say yes, but I sigh and nod my head, shaking Daisuke's hand.

"Kenjiro Hayasaka. I mean, I know you saw my name on the poster, but I just thought I'd say my name again."

Daisuke and I looked at each other for a moment before I threw him at a locker in the clubroom.

"And now we're even." I say with a smirk.

Daisuke turns around and chuckles, not mad at all.

"Smartass."

Later that day, during lunch, I had... A pretty interesting encounter.

I was sitting at my desk, eating my lunch my parents packed for me while coming up with a new poster. I had talked to Daisuke and the principal about the posters, and he approved as long as it was meant for the culture festival in two days.

While drawing a new poster, I hear a group of girls laughing and giggling, and my face gets gloomy.

"Popular girls..."

I keep my head down and stop drawing.

"Hm... Hey, guys, you can head to lunch without me. Yeah, don't worry. I'll catch up with you guys in a sec."

"No!" I say to myself quietly.

Then suddenly I hear the classroom door slide open, and I immediately freeze.

I close my eyes and cross my fingers, waiting to hear footsteps from the hallway.

Thinking that the girl was gone, I opened my eyes and sighed, looking at the floor.

"You know, you really interest me if I'm being honest."

I scream and fall backwards, but the girl catches my chair and pulls me back up.

"W-Why are you here?!" I ask nervously. Then I took a look at the girl. Her hair was short and silver, the tips dyed purple. Her hair was tied in a ponytail even though it was short and her eyes were also the color purple. She was dressed like a gyaru, but her shirt was properly buttoned up to my surprise, and her skirt wasn't extremely short. But the problem was her shirt buttons were barely holding on!
