✦✧✧✧✧✦

A town at West, the night sky above dark and the cool breeze fill the air. Chatter is heard at every corner, murmurs of the Teenagers being taken away night after night, and every night more and more disappear . Dozens of people move in different ways, each having a sole destination in mind. Y/n, walking down the street to her home, holds a small bag of groceries. her home is but a small house on the end of town where the rocky mountains arise from ground.

As she stop at the entrance of the building, she gaze up at the flue, peering at the wads of smoke curling up into the sky. With a nod to self, Y/n heads inside. Y/n silently place the bag down on the floor next to the cabinet, sets off her haori and hang it up.

"Father? Aika, I'm home."

Y/n call to her younger sister and Father. Aika, a smaller girl about the age of 14, come to greet Y/n with a big hug. Y/n's father step into the room with a soft grin on his face.

"I see you made it safely back... Welcome back, Y/n."

He utters while walking towards Y/n and placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. His eyes meet hers, a silent understanding passing between them like a silent conversation.

"Yes father. I bought the groceries you wanted."

Y/n reply. Her Father nod of approval, withdrawing his hand from her shoulder. Once Aika is put to bed, Y/n is on her way to bed as well. Yet tossing and turning, one thing linger in her mind as she stare at the ceiling above her.

-What happened to the teenagers that were kidnapped? Am I next?-

Y/n wonder quietly, her hands clutching the covers. Just as she shut her eyes to try and find rest in what little sleep is granted to her, Y/n heard a unsettling muffled cry escaping Aika's room. Y/n stood up slowly, treading towards the door to Aika's bedroom. her hand trembles, shivers running down her body, something telling her not to open the door.

-Don't open it.-

The words echo in her agitated mind. She takes a slow breath and slide the door open. Y/n's breath catches in her throat at the gruesome sight. She is frozen in place, paralyzed with fear and horror, her eyes fill with dread and raw terror. There her sister lay, crumbled to the ground with a figure above her smaller form. Blood paints the floor a crimson, splattered on the wall.

"Agh..."

The tremor in her gasp is notable. The figure above Aika stood up straight, revealing the little sister laying there, crimson on her body and her body pale and still. That is when realization comes tumbling down on her.

-S-she's... she's dead...-

Y/n feels sick to the bone, watching as the mysterious creature slowly turn to gaze at her like a predator. Y/n's Father, having heard the slight ruckus, get out of bed and walk up behind Y/n, about to ask her what is wrong. But once he saw the sight past Y/n, terror fills his eyes. His heart ache, but he steps in front of Y/n to protect her.

"Stay behind me, Y/n."

Her father mutter and signal for Y/n to go hide, knowing this is leading to a dangerous path. He lost one daughter, he will not lose his last daughter. Y/n obey and scurry off to hide behind the table despite the fear eating at her. Once she is out of sight, a piercing, hoarse scream echo through the room of her Father and a deeper voice chuckle, the throat sounding raw.

"Ah, so someone decided to interrupt me? What a shame, I was enjoying my feast..."

The sound of blood dripping on the floor is audible, a sick sound. And the trembling voice of her Father speaks up.

"Who are you? And what have you done to my daughter!?"

-Please don't kill him, please don't hurt him. I can't lose my Father too...-

Y/n hopelessly pray while squinting her eyes shut, tears trickling down her cheeks. Not long after, there is a thud.

"Oh poor guy, maybe if you had more flesh on you, you'd be worth eating."

The cruel creature mutter out with a sick grin. That is when Y/n realize, the blood, the creature, the cannibal-like act,

-He's a Demon.-

Y/n listen as the footsteps advance to her direction, covering her mouth with her hand to avoid making any sound and giving her hiding spot away. She knows her father might be hurt badly. In a fraction of a second, something sounds sharp, almost like metal, and a grunt. Y/n peek out from her behind the table, and her eyes widen once she sees a man in a unmatched haori, holding a bloody sword, silently standing over the creature.

-Who is that? Is that a demon slayer? What Mom always used to talk about? -

Y/n ponder as she observe this strange man. She turn her attention to the demon on the floor, turning to nothing but ashes. The man place his nichirin sword back into place, and turns to leave. After Y/n is sure the man is gone, she run to her sister. She looks down at the bloody mess. Tears well in her eyes as she collapsed to her knees and clutch Aika, having what feels to be the longest breakdown. Y/ń finally stand up, sore at heart as she think to herself.

-I can't do anything but move on. People lose their family or members. I'm no different from them. I have to move on....-
