Eos walked back from the training area, her black skin tight battle attire covered in a small amount of dust at her waist, and her yellow-orange sleeves above her prosthetics were covered in only a small amount of dirt from when she rolled to avoid machine gun fire. She held the Peregrine SMG in one hand and a spark of light in the other. Lifting her chin, she looked up to see Xiva waiting at the start of the training area. The stone ceiling of the underground facility emitted light similar to sunlight and the appearance of midday. A small amount of sweat on her brow as she placed the SMG on the table in front of her at the start of the exercise.
"My Diffraction makes quick work of enemies. Line them up and watch the beam slice through the targets. That might be a new record," she said arrogantly as her prosthetic hands opened up, revealing the intricate wiring beneath before closing. Eos adjusted her arms as she flexed her fingers.
The Light Whisperer smiled and flicked a pink ponytail behind her right shoulder. The loudspeaker of the automated timer rang out. "Ten targets down. Two minutes and one second. New Personal Best."
She kept her smile as the light flickered, and the area behind her reset. Only the appearance of bullet holes and where she used her Diffraction to slice through two enemies before finishing. Eos stepped out of the way and stood next to Xiva. The black and blue-haired Awakener stood there, giving a small nod of approval.
Eos smiled. "Want to make a competition out of it? Best time buys the drinks?"
The Petrichor Flame Awakener shrugged and nodded. "Don't be upset when I win," she said as she approached the starting point.
Xiva takes a deep breath. Her Black and white skin-tight combat attire flexed with her subtle movements. She stretches her shoulders as her back cracks. She closes as she thinks back on the training area before her.
The training facility was quiet. Seven different buildings lay around the tattered battlefield in front of her. Three to the left and four to her right. Her right hand tightens around the grip of the CL RAFLE AR as she takes in the heights of each building. The first loud beep of the countdown filled the area before a voice on the loudspeaker called out. "3... 2... 1... Begin."
She opened her uncovered eye and walked forward. Her grip tight on the AR as a target appeared to her left. Bang. The small circular target sparked with a small blue fire from her bullets.
"One."
Another two small targets appeared on her left as she continued to move forward. Another few squeezes of the trigger and two more targets were down in a similar blaze of blue.
"Three."
Xiva moved slowly with purpose before two more stationary human-sized targets poked out as shoots ranged out in front of her. She crouched as their bullets were inaccurate and missed before four quick shots rang out. The targets sparked in the flames of searing ammunition like the others.
"Four and Five."
She stood back on her feet and inched her way forward. Her attention moved from one spot to the next as she walked deeper into the training area. Xiva turned as two other targets appeared from the windows of the second floor of a green house on the right side.
"Roaring Flames!" Xiva yelled out while ducking behind a car beside her.
She flicked her wrist, and her Azure Divide created a large wall of blue flames between her and the targets. Shots continued to rain down in her general direction.
The vehicle's glass windows against her back shattered as the spray continued slowly. Xiva took a deep breath, and as she could hear the targets reload, she rolled away from the car to her right. Without a second thought, she moved through the wall of blue flames. In the intensity of the flames that roared around her, she aimed her weapon towards the second floor of the house. She stepped through the flame, instantly adjusted her sights, and unloaded the remainder of the clip, destroying the two targets.
"That makes seven."
She turned to be perpendicular with her wall of flames and walked beside it. A small cul-de-sac lay in front of her. Xiva's eyes scanned the different houses as three lay scattered, and a clicking sound released three human-sized targets. Two are behind the cover of the driveways and yards of the houses. Shots rang out instantly as she stepped back into her flame wall. Her right hand flicked as a small orb of fire sparked to life.
"The skies rain fire!"
Xiva perfectly tossed the orb between the three targets through her Azure Divide. The moment she exited her blue flames, she sprinted to her left and fired at the only target inside a building. A spray of bullets weaved around her as her own assault hit the outside of the window and quickly moved in, tearing her target apart.
"Eight," she said as a small pillar of blue flame roared upwards and pulsated.
She moved behind a house herself and reloaded her weapon. Her back pushed the red wall of the house. Xiva's breathing lay calm as she ejected the empty magazine of her gun and pulled a new magazine, sliding it inside the slot before hearing her petrichor meteors crash to the ground. Readying herself as each meteor crashed to the ground before giving it another second. She turned the corner and aimed down her sight before the area rang out.
"Training Complete."
Xiva lowered the weapon, seeing the destruction she had caused. Small fires scattered across the lawns and damaged houses. A warning light flashed above, and the sprinklers above rained water down, slowly putting out her flames. She turned back and walked slowly, in the downpour of the fire suppression, back towards the starting point. Eos stood there with arms crossed, soaking wet from head to toe.
"I need to make this training more... fire resistant," Eos said, groaning.
She shrugged as the automated voice rang out. "Ten targets down. One minute and Forty-nine seconds."
Xiva smiled slightly as she placed the AR on the table beside Eos. She turned towards Eos and crossed her arms. "It looks like drinks are on you," she said as she walked away from EOS, waving for her to follow.
Eos rolled her eyes and followed her. She glanced back at her training facility designs. The two continued walking towards the white sliding doors in front of them. The pink-haired Awakener turned back towards Xiva and said, "Don't think I didn't catch it. That wasn't even a personal best for you."
