You giggled softly, the familiar warmth of Sesame Street curling around you like a childhood blanket. Sure, you were in high school now, cramming for exams, stressing about grades, but that didn't stop you from sneaking in some time for this.
Summer break was almost here, and it was almost like a tradition.
You remembered watching Sesame Street when you were younger, with wide eyes and a heart full of wonder. Zoe, that little furry orange Muppet, always captured your attention.
The pink tutu, the spunky attitude-it was her love of dancing that always made you smile.
And Z was her favorite letter. It made sense, right? Z for Zoe, her whole world wrapped up in that single letter.
You'd been singing along, just like when you were a kid, your body moving to the rhythm of the old ABC song. "Z is for Zoe, and zoo!" you whispered, spinning in the living room like the goofy little kid you used to be. You zoomed across the floor, lost in the moment.
And then... something weird happened.
"Nayah..." The soft murmur, her voice-Zoe's voice-cut through the air like a whisper from the past. Your body froze, heart racing, breath hitching in your chest.
You didn't move. Didn't speak. You just stared at the screen. You knew Zoe. She was forever 3 years old in your memory. But now... now she was different. She wasn't some cartoonish little Muppet. She looked... beautiful. She looked... 16-like she could be standing right there in your room.
The screen flickered slightly, and for a second, you thought you were losing it. Your mind was spinning. "What the hell?" you whispered to yourself, struggling to make sense of it. This wasn't right. Zoe wasn't supposed to look like that. You remembered her being cute, a little mischievous, but this was something else.
For a second, you swore you were staring into the eyes of someone who understood you more than anyone else.
"Zoe," you whispered. And then, in that quiet space of disbelief, you couldn't help but think, "What the hell just happened?"
