She'd wondered why everyone acted so weird today - normally they barely tolerated her.

"Figured it out now? What a dumbass."

He Zhizhi and Xu Zhiqing emerged from the trees, arms crossed. "This is bear country. You'll never get out alone. Feed the wolves, basically."

"But if you kneel now and kiss my shoes? Maybe I'll spare you."

Lu Wei smirked. "If you knelt and kowtowed a hundred times, I'd still destroy you."

Suddenly, startled birds exploded from the treetops.

A massive, shadowy figure emerged from the underbrush, fixating on the group.

Everyone froze, hair standing on end.

"Bear... it's a bear!"

"F*ck! Play dead... no, run!"

"Don't eat me! My flesh is rancid! My cousin's meat's tasty!"

A thunderous roar shook the forest. Pandemonium erupted as people scattered like frightened animals.

He Zhizhi shoved Lu Wei toward the bear, yelling: "Don't blame me! You're expendable!"

He turned to flee, utterly justifying sacrificing her for his own survival.

But as he glanced back expecting to see her torn apart...

The bear completely ignored Lu Wei, charging straight at them!

"F*ck!"

How stupid could they get? If Lu Wei had nothing up her sleeve, would she venture this deep?

Karma served them right.

Lu Wei whistled. Instantly, a scarred gray wolf emerged from the grass, tilting its head as if asking: Did you order a ride?

She surveyed the scrawny animal. Hard times indeed when even wolves are doing child labor.

But business before comfort.

Mounting the wolf, she finally relaxed her legs after all that stress. Talk about VIP treatment.

No chance returning to camp now. Before the storm hit, she found a cave for shelter.

Before long, He Fanzhi and Xu Zhiqing arrived with their group.

"Lu Wei!" He Fanzhi's teeth clenched at the sight of her. "You survived the bear? Your wretched life's surprisingly resilient!"

"Lu Wei, we're taking this cave. Get lost," Xu Zhiqing said coldly, eyeing her.

They had numbers; she stood alone. There was no way she'd dare resist.

After what she'd done to He Fanzhi, Xu Zhiqing had finally written her off.

Seated by the fire, Lu Wei laughed at their words, turning to the scarred black wolf behind her. "They want me gone. I'm terrified. What should I do?"

Xu Zhiqing's group assumed she was acting crazy again—until the next second.

A massive, wild black wolf rose from behind her, its feral eyes locking onto them like prey.

Xu Zhiqing's face drained. "Run!"

They stumbled back through the rain, retreating farther as the wolf's gaze bore down on them.

"Another cave!" someone pointed left.

"But it's too close to Lu Wei... what if she sends that beast?"

"She wouldn't dare!" He Fanzhi snarled. "With all these witnesses? If she attacks, our parents will ruin her! Let's go!"

The soaked crowd squeezed into the cramped cave, shoulders brushing. No fire, no comfort—this was no refuge but a cage.

Compared to Lu Wei, dry and warm by her blazing fire, they felt like refugees.

"This is all Lu Wei's fault!" someone snapped.

"Classmates? She's ice cold!"

"How does she control that wolf? Never heard she could do anything like this..."

"Who cares? Once we're out, we'll crush her like the penniless trash she is!"

Their frustration boiled louder, until Lu Wei's voice sliced through the rain: "Think I can't hear you? Come on—who wants to volunteer as wolf bait? I still owe my ride-hailing fee."

The wolf let out a long, spine-chilling howl.

Silence choked the other cave.
