Kaelum tried to stay out of the room, but Gabriel pulled her in. Literally. Initially, she distanced herself so as not to be pulled into this; however, just as the door was about to shut, the angel's hand reached towards Kaelum, and in she went.

"Alright, Alex, try explaining your part."

Alex now composed again and started up once more:

"As I tried to explain last time - We would like to buy up the land around our school as we are expanding and desperately need the space-"

"And as I have explained before, it is a graduation gift for Kaelum here... It was meant to be a surprise, but I digress."

"Your family is one of the largest owners of land in this area why that land specifically!"

"Why do we need to justify ourselves to you? Your family is also affluent buy another place!" Lorie simply replied crossing her arms.

"We can't! - Because if we do that, our students would need to find a bus to get to their classes because it would be on the other side of town! Do you want your daughter to take the bus to every other class?! How about you Kaelum? Since your mother feels a need to mention you so vehemently as a reason she can not sell the land."

In all honesty, she didn't want to inherit land. She had watched far too many fistfights among her family members as they squabbled over land. Besides having something is no good if you didn't earn it yourself... She especially didn't want to make an enemy of Alex who was supposed to be her future headmaster... But she couldn't help but feel as if she was being shoved into a corner.

"I don't think it's fair to ask me. Kindly keep in mind that I am not of age to own land... Also, I am under your power so it is not safe for me to be fully honest with you." Kaelum answered. "If I may I would like to be left out of this argument. This whole discussion is making me wish I went with the luggage."

She didn't know much about land law but she did know that selling it without truly understanding what you were selling was a bad idea. She had never been to that area hence she didn't know what she was selling. Alex could be getting a good deal while they were left in the dust.

"Alex. Kindly do not involve the minor." Gabriel snipped from the side. "She doesn't even understand the entirety of what's going on isn't it better to explain the situation? The extension isn't the only issue."

Alex stopped dead in his tracks and for a moment he looked terrified as Gabriel did not look pleased... Apparently losing his composure and snapping at a minor was enough to make the angel mad.

That's when Anael appeared.

"Anael do not worry I am not angry at your host just incredibly baffled at mine."

"Your family are full of mixed practitioners. Your fathers an angel host. Your mom a Spirit Host. Your brother works with the fae... It is a mixed bag. Your uncles are demonologists and often do their rituals in that land... We would like to buy it not only for the extensions but security of our students."

"You think Uncle Fred and Tito Alan are going to harm your students?" Kaelum interjected offended on her uncles behalf. Sure they were demonologists but they never did anything overly crazed. Yet Alex was making them out to be crazed maniacs.

"You know them. We do not. We act for the safety of our students and staff." Alex replied utilizing his knowledge as a father of a teenager to try and reason with her.

"We will tell them to do their rituals elsewhere. But I need time to talk with my mother can we redo this meeting again?" The girl said fiddling with her fingers.

"Very well."

_____
"Well you handled that well." Lorie said as the driver took the two of them to their house. It was one of the only wooded areas left in that part of the city. Surrounding the top Angel academy. Some bits were rented out to be shops but inside the woods only a few houses stood. Ancestral homes of the Bes family.

Kaelum looked frazzled as if someone had thrown a grenade right on her lap.

"I'll have to deal with the aftermath of this on Monday..."

"Oh shush now. Angel hosts despite their holier-than-thou attitudes have a moral compass... If a teacher tries to goof on you because of this simply ask to see their angel and tear them apart verbally in front of said angel. Be respectful of course."

"I should have brought Dad instead..."

"Oh don't give me that Kaelum he was a jerk."

"Mom you insulted his staff, his school, heck even the city his wife busts her butt off to run... You are lucky he didn't expel me!" Kaelum groaned. "Besides he was right."

"Hey I thought you agreed him insulting was not right."

"He did not insult them mom. He had concerns... It is his job to have concerns... Tito Alan specifically works with demons who prey on humans... What if they got loose and got near the school?"

"Fair... I'll tell Alan to stay away from the border. That should shush up Alex."

"That's not his concern his concern is that someone who practises such dangerous rituals has access that area! - If it was just the extension I would understand it but as much as I love Tito Alan I have been at the bad end of his practise before when he accidentally summoned that demon which stalked me and Anael around for months before attacking us. Imagine if that happens to a student there? He would go to jail."

"Fine. I'll draft an agreement with Alex next week and tell Alan to go our place downtown for his work." Lorie groaned. "Why didn't you simply just agree with Alex then?"

"Because I know you would snap at all of us and then nothing would be done!"
