I don't get why this is happening. I say one honest thingjust oneand suddenly I'm interesting?

I rest my chin on my hand, staring blankly at the window. Outside, it's just the usual: students heading to their clubs, the fading afternoon light casting soft gold on the pavement, and-

There she is again.

Yoo Jae-Yi.

She's standing by the flagpole, talking to someone while smiling. Her voice isn't loud enough for me to hear, but it's clear how people gravitate toward her. Like she's the sun—everyone else just revolves around her without question.

Everyone, except me.

She glances up.

Meets my eyes.

I freeze in place.

Why is she always looking at me like that? It's like she always knows where I am..

And the way she looks at me—It's not anger. It's not really curiosity either. It's... something else. Like she knows something about me that even I haven't figured out yet.

And that unsettles me more than I want to admit.

Later, during dismissal, the school courtyard hums with after—class chaos—laughter, footsteps, bouncing volleyballs in the distance.

Seulgi walks slowly, her backpack slung over one shoulder. She thought she could get out of here unnoticed. But fate has other plans.

"Seulgi."

That voice.

Soft. Clear. Like it was meant to cut through noise.

Seulgi turns.

Jaeyi is standing a few steps away, alone again.

No friends trailing her this time. Her hair catches the late sun, giving her an almost cinematic glow.

Seulgi didn't answer—just looked at her, waiting.

"I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable," Jaeyi says, calm but direct. "In class. I just... I wasn't expecting you to say no."

Seulgi tilts her head slightly. "That's not really my problem, is it?"

Jaeyi doesn't flinch. In fact, she seems amused. "You're right. But most people care about how I feel."

"Well, I'm not most people."

That makes Jaeyi pause.

For the first time, Jaeyi's confidence wavers just slightly.

Then she smirks, gentle but unreadable.

"I noticed."

Before Seulgi can say anything else, Jaeyi turns and walks away, leaving the scent of her soft marshmallow and lychee perfume behind—sweet, quiet, and lingering like a question Seulgi doesn't know how to answer yet..

I watch her go.

And even though I don't want to-I wonder what it is she wants from me. Because I get the feeling...

This isn't the end.

Not even close.

The day goes on, and Seulgi's mind never really leaves the classroom. It feels like everyone's eyes are still on her, even though they've all gone back to their own little worlds.

The whispers, the sideways glances—they're always there, lingering just out of sight.

She sighs, and whispers to herself, "I can't believe it's only the first day."

She tries to ignore it, focus on the lessons, just to get through the day.

After class, she walks to the courtyard, her footsteps quiet among the chatter.

"Seulgi, hey!"

She turns, not surprised to see Ara running up to her, a look of excitement on her face. "You okay? You've been a little... distant today."

Seulgi forces a smile. "I'm fine. Just tired."

Ara eyes her for a moment, clearly unconvinced, but doesn't press the issue. Instead, she just nods. "Well, you know where to find me if you need anything."

Seulgi nods back, appreciative of her friend's concern, but it doesn't stop the feeling of emptiness creeping in. It's not just the rumors anymore. It's the pressure, the strange distance between herself and everyone else. The things she can't explain, the way her world is shifting under her feet without her permission.

She watches Ara walk away, then her gaze drifts back to the flagpole.

There she is again. Yoo Jaeyi. Standing there, talking to some other group of students.

The way they laugh, the way they look at her-it's like she's the center of everything.

But Seulgi doesn't go over to her.

Instead, she turns and walks in the opposite direction, trying to shake off the uncomfortable knot in her stomach.

Later, as the evening sky darkens, Seulgi finally heads home. The air is cool, and the streets are quieter than usual. She walks through the familiar path, lost in thought.

The weight of the day—the stares, the whispers, the questions—presses on her shoulders.

But just as she's about to round the corner to her street, something catches her eye. A sleek black car is parked at the curb. It's out of place in the quiet neighborhood.

She stops, her heart suddenly starts racing. The car is unfamiliar, but it's not the car that grabs her attention—

It's the figure standing by the front gate of her house.

A man in a dark coat, his face hidden in the shadows.

Seulgi's breath catches in her throat.

The man glances up, but Seulgi quickly hides behind the cars in front of her, her breath catching in her throat.

Seulgi's heart skips a beat.

She doesn't recognize him, but something about the encounter feels wrong. Like she stumbled into a scene she wasn't meant to see.

The car's engine hums to life, and the vehicle slowly pulls away from the curb, disappearing into the night.

Seulgi stands frozen for a moment, still unsure of what just happened. She watches the man leave, still hidden behind the cars.

She shakes her head, pushing the unsettling thoughts away.

When she finally gets inside her house, the doors click shut behind her, and the weight of the world feels just a little heavier. She knows something's coming-and she can't escape it.

I'm already tired, and it's only been one day..
