"Only From Afar"
I watched you dance in fields of green,
A sight that once was mine, now seen,
Through panes of glass, through frames between,
A broken dream of might-have-been.
Your voice, it rides the evening mist,
A whispered song the stars have kissed,
I reach, but only catch the twist
Of memories I can't resist.
You laugh, and yet you do not know,
The way my frozen rivers flow,
How every step, where'er you go,
Carves letters deep into my woe.
And so I stay, a watcher still,
A heart that's chained against its will,
Longing to bridge the silent hill,
But trapped within this aching chill.
