I exhale into the cold, night air, a cloud of vapour forming. I shiver into my wool jacket and continue trudging through the thick, December snow. I pass flickering street lights, dusted with snowflakes. I finished my work shift at Palm Platters a Caribbean themed diner, 10 minutes ago, and usually I drive home, but currently, my Volvo is being repaired. So i have no choice but to walk. I don't have near enough energy to be walking home tonight, but I have no choice. The streets are eerily quiet, and it's strange. My phone vibrates in my pocket, and I pause to check it. I remove my phone from my pocket and unlock it. I have 2 new messages from an unknown number. I click onto them , and my heart skips a beat while reading them. My hands start to shake uncontrollably, as I type up a response.

Isn't it a bit late to be walking home by yourself Elliana? 23.47

What the fuck? I pick up my pace . How on earth did somebody get my phone number? This is probably just a sick joke. I hear something rustle behind me , and that's when I start running. By the time I get to my front door, I am out of breath. I fumble with the lock and finally get inside my house. I sigh a sigh of relief that I am in my home at last. I lock the door as quickly as I unlocked it, I don't want anyone breaking in. I check the time, 23.55. I curse under my breath. It's almost midnight, and I still have to fill out documents. I sit down at my kitchen table, and open my laptop. I open emails, and hover over an email from my boss, when suddenly a new email pops up. I click on it instead.

Dear Elliana Cassidy Rems,

I want you to know that I'm always watching you. You can't, and WON'T escape from me ever.

-your new favourite person.

My eyes quickly scan over the email. I let out a deep exhale. This is a sick prank, I tell myself, and I hover my mouse over the delete button. Right as I'm about to click delete, my phone vibrates. I sigh and pick it up. Who could it be?

Unkown Number

Elliana don't even think about deleting that email. 23.57

Remember, I'm ALWAYS watching you. 23.57

Not this number again. I block it instantly. This has to be a sick joke, my friends are pulling on me. I deleted the email and shut my laptop.I make my way up stairs , and my bedroom. The first thing I do is pull my curtains shut. If the email wasn't a prank... I shake my head. I just need to sleep this off. I get changed into my pyjamas and slide into my bed , pulling up my duvet. "Tomorrow will be better." I mutter to myself as I set an alarm for 6am. I roll over and close my eyes. Just forget about the messages and go to sleep.
