Lena Khalaf Tuffaha in her poem “Running Orders” illustrated the plight of Palestinians. It moved the heart of many and created an internet sensation, people all over the world outraged and condemned the killing of innocent civilians .

Then came Iraq, we saw the beheading of an ancient colorful civilization. Forced by the Islamic state, Yazidis and christians fled their homes, some found refuge on a mountain called Sinjar. Terrorists captured some unfortunate daughters ,sons, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, wives and husbands…. They were killed in the most unimaginable way . Islamic state beheaded men in front of their wives and children. Some were buried alive, raped girls, made them sex slaves and sold in the market like camels. On their way to the mountain some died of thirst some out of hunger some by the horror of being captured by the terrorists .Most of the world watched in sinful silence .

this poem is a response to selective outrage

this poem is dedicated to that unknown girl who faced the gruesome fate of being raped 20 times a day by the heroes and brothers of many

this poem is dedicated to the unfortunate sisters who were held captives by “IS”

this poem is dedicated to the men and women who were buried alive

this poem is dedicated to the helpless human beings who were denied the “time to run”

This poem is dedicated to the souls of children who were thrown down from the mount Sinjar by their own mothers and died the most horrific death

I am falling like a leaf
from a mount called sinjar
I don’t want to die
mom said I am going to heaven
but I heard heaven is in the sky
I am falling deep down a mountain
I don’t want to die
I am only five
I don’t want to go to heaven
without my mom
she is so pretty
she used to tell me stories at night
I want to hear more
I don’t want to die
I want to go home
she said we lost our home
I want to see my daddy
I saw tears in his eyes when he said good bye
I want to play with my sister
somebody said she was taken away
and will be sold in the market
its better to die before they come for you
who are they?
they are god’s soldiers
they kill devil worshippers
so god hates us
he hates me
this little child
now its clear to me
I don’t deserve to live
I am a devil worshipper
I am a threat to peace
I am falling like a milkweed
do I see the gates of heaven
but it seems like a rock ..mothe…….
