The Flaming Duelist [ Yusei Fudo x Reader ]

Prologue

     The streets were quiet. Until the rev echoed them. The flames blasting from the exhaust pipes and the intricate design of fire, there was no doubt about it. Even without the bold signature lined in the firey design, everyone, even Sector Security, knew who that Duel Runner belonged to. Blaze Steele.

     The way her boots clanked on the ground, and the way she flipped her bright red hair so confidently while she gave her runner another rev, you'd think she actually owned the Satellite. Only, that wasn't the case. And it took her years to get to where she was. But the city didn't need to know that.

     But if the city didn't need to know, who did?

     Well, that question was simple to answer. Yusei, Crow, Kalin, and Jack. It was always them. Every time she found herself searching for an answer, they had it. But could they ever answer this?

     For once, she found herself speeding from the Satellite undetected. Uncertainty filled her deep brown eyes. Crashing through fences and driving away like nothing happened, the though reoccured. She abandoned her friends. Her family. Even Rally and Martha, who she held so dear.

     Even the bracelet she swore she'd never take off.

     As she parked the runner and covered it inside the office building, she felt regret and remorse. She traced the names on her most precious Duel Runner. Crow Hogan, Jack Atlas, Kalin Kessler... And finally, Yusei Fudo. She traced that name more than once. Not even twice, or thrice, but maybe a couple hundred times. And maybe she would've done it a couple hundred more. Maybe a couple thousand. Or million times.

     But there, at the end of the room, stood Blister. Her only life there in the city. But the name Yusei just rang. Over and over. Maybe she was going insane. Or maybe she wanted to leave already. She was homesick, after all. Or maybe, just possibly, she had already lost her mind.
