After hopelessly jiggling the key in the lock, I twisted the knob and slammed the door. It frighteningly hammered my heart even more. My mind lit up with Jake's face, the one who broke my heart in the most horrible way possible. I ran up to my room and collasped on my bed breaking into tears.

I am such an idiot. We dated for 11 months, going steady, then I see him putting his lips where they shouldn't be wandering! It would've been a year if whoever that was, hadn't stepped in and claim him as if he wasn't taken.

My house phone rang. Jake's been blowing up my phone with his constant calls ever since I left and I still haven't picked up once. But my hand was still itching to pick up the phone so instead I used it to wipe my tear stricken cheeks. I left him to the answering machine and after the beep, I heard his familiar voice come on.

"Beeeep," the machine went.

There was some silence on the other line before his crackled voice came on. "Hey Amber. I'm sorry you had to see me....with....the girl. I know you don't want to talk to me right now. But please give me a chance. It did look like I was intentionally making out with her but she came onto me first." Now that sentence sparked a violent part of me. "Just please-"

All I could hear was the truth in his lies and I wanted it to stop. I clutched my head and willed for the voice to shut up. Before I knew what I was doing, the receiver in my hand flew hard into the opposite wall and smashed to pieces. I wiped my cheeks again and cried into my pillow. Sobs racked my body as I tried to piece together what went wrong.

My phone rang, jolting me. I looked helplessly at my cell and picked it up. Looking at the screen, it was Nikki. My best friend. Looks like Jake got to her.

"Hello?" I greeted hoarsely into the speaker.

A sigh was heard on the other end. I laid down diagonally on my bed waiting for her to speak.

"Amber, are you ok?" She spoke with alarm in her voice. "Jake called saying that you were yelling at him on the phone then he heard loud cracking sounds and the line went dead?" My brain started steaming up anger from hearing the name. "Is it true?"

"Yes." I answered tonelessly, yet the tears choking me proved otherwise.

"What happened?! Are you hurt? Did he hurt you!"

All of a sudden, I heard footsteps coming up the stairs. Panic started building up in veins. No one else has the key to my house except for my grandma, and she always warns me of her visits.

I grabbed my bat out of my closet, getting ready to use it on the intruder. The door swung open and I was about to lunge the bat at the stranger when it turned out to be Nikki.

"AHH!" She wailed. She held her hands up a the sight of my bat mere inches away from her .

"Oh, it's just you!" I cried.

"Of course it's me!" She snapped her phone shut and collasped on my bed after what looked like a tired day she had been through. I dropped the bat and it fell with a clunk on the wooden floor.

"You know I was at the beach when Jake called me. He's all like 'I heard yelling and I heard cracking sounds and the line went dead. I messed up and I need your help.' and he just hung up. So I assumed it was you so I tried calling your phone but you didn't pick up." She rubbed her aching feet. No wonder she looked tired.

"So you gonna tell me what happened. You haven't spoken since." She raised her eyebrows at me.

Another wave of depression settled into my stomach as the memory bombarded me. Nikki grabbed my hand and the nice gesture of support set off a rocket launch of tears.

"He was kissing another girl," my voice cracked and welled up in my eyes again as I thought about the scene that happened earlier. I covered my face and tried to stop the tears but it was no use.

Nikki noticed this and went over to where I was sitting. She held me in her arms and I started sobbing. "Its ok honey." She cooed. "He's an ass for cheating on you. He doesn't deserve another chance. And definitely doesn't deserve you." I removed my wet streaked hands and looked up at her and sniffed.

"I thought we were in a pretty good place in our relationship right now. But I guess I was wrong." I sighed. "Eleven months usually means steady. I don't know if he thinks that's a long time or not but to me, a long time usually means that something's going right." I could feel Nikki nodding on top of my head.

She pulled away from me and looked at me in the eye. "Jake is a little bitch for cheating on you and he doesn't deserve a second chance or you. We need to move on and make him regret ever making out with that girl." Her words somewhat lightened my sour mood and made me stop sobbing.

She does have a point. I was really never the forgiving type anyways. I sigh heavily and hope that this won't be an emotional wreck.

"He's gonna regret it Nikki," I voiced icily. "He's going to regret letting that -that bimbo lay her hands on him and he's going to regret it bad."

Nikki nodded her head approvingly while I don't really know what I'm going to do to make Jake regret his actions.
