Chapter 23

"Tell me about it" Mako was curious

"well, the days she stayed over, she would set up a towel and some pjs for me for the shower while I took off my makeup. or when we went out for food, and I get tomatoes in my food Korra takes it for me" She smiled "she was so detailed, I remembered when I let her drive my car she checked how I normally had everything set up so when she was done driving she'd put it back how I like it... I even noticed her looking around my office, I didn't think much of it but soon I realized it was her getting to know where everything of at incase I needed something"

Mako smiled seeing the girl talk about Korra with a smile on her face.

"She did so much for me, I don't even know half the things I did for, maybe I barely did anything" Asami said

"I'm sure you do just as much for her" Mako said

"korra!" Yasuko shouted running off to the woman who came down the stairs in joggers and a T-shirt

"Hey, what are you doing here?" Korra questioned as she picked up the girl remembering Yasuko was supposed to be with Mako

"Drinking tea with Mommy and daddy" The girl said happily as Korra carried her to the dinning table

"hey Korra" Mako said earning a hey back

Korra took a seat next to Asami where Yasuko sat. The little girl was now sitting on Korra's lap trying to finish her tea. Asami passed Korra the cup of tea that was still warm earning a thank you.

"need help?" Korra offered Asami some help with paperwork

"No, it's fine, it's just some ideas and stuff I gotta look at before running by with my father" Asami said she then looked at Yasuko who yawned and was getting comfortable in Korra's arm "hey sweet face, you ready for bed?" she asked her daughter earning a soft nod "alright, let's go"

Asami was about to get up till Korra grabbed her arm keeping her in her seat. "I'll take her to bed, just finish these last papers, and I'll come help you clean up" Korra said getting up with Yasuko in her arms.

Asami just listened to the woman knowing that Korra would argue "Mako, can you give her a hand" Asami said and Mako got up following Korra.

Korra and Mako made it to Yasuko's room which have a bathroom in it. Mako had Yasuko brush her teeth before bed. Yasuko got in bed while Korra tucked her in. "can you read to me?" Yasuko asked

"Of course, what book do you want me to read?" Korra asked and the girl pulled one out from under her pillow making the woman chuckle

Korra grabbed the book seeing the cover of a princess in a red dress that looked so much like Asami and a female knight in blue armor that looked like Korra. she read the title 'Happier with you' 'this must be that book Asami was talking about' Korra thought

It's a story about a princess named Sami, arranged to be married to a prince only for her to fall in love with a knight named Korra. their love was forbidden. Because of the Princess not wanting to marry the prince due to her falling in love with the knight, a war broke out between kingdoms. Her knight had to fight in the battle. The Knight was determined to win, for her love. And they did win. The knight came back to the princess with injuries and honor. The two ended up living a happy life together.

Korra closed the book seeing the girl asleep after Korra finished reading the book.

"She hates me" Korra heard Mako say from the rocking chair

"she doesn't hate you" Korra said low to not wake the girl

"please, she can't even spend the night at her father's without crying for her mom, she doesn't listen to me, she gets mad at me easily, she has the attitude of a 3 headed dragon" Mako said

"ha, Asami's face but your anger issues, wait till Yasuko takes over the company" Korra chuckled

"Korra, I'm being serious, I feel myself failing as a father" He rubbed his forehead in frustration "Asami makes it look so easy"

"it's not easy though" Korra said "especially she's on the works of trying to convince her dad to give her the company on top of raising a child"

"Yasuko is mostly with Hiroshi, Asami's always at work or dug herself in paperwork, and I get her after I get out of work for like 4 hours till Asami picks her up, which is already Yasuko's bedtime. She spend more time with me than with her mother and she hates me, how does that work?" Mako sighed "and I'm not saying that Yasuko should hate Asami, I'm saying she shouldn't hate me"

"Mako, you're a good father, you make sure she's fed, happy, healthy, you visit, you take her out, just because she doesn't understand the things you do doesn't mean you failed as a father." Korra said then sighed "And I have to say, I don't think Yasuko even has a bedtime, I do believe Asami stays up with Yasuko to spend time with her" Korra said "cause if she had a bedtime, she'd be in routine and she would've been asleep... but right now her routine is drinking tea with her mother before bed"

"I guess you're right" Mako sighed "I wish I could do more"

"Every parent wishes they can do more" Korra cleared her throat "but you're present, your sitting here being able to watch her grow, that's what matters the most"

"Have you ever thought about being a mother?" Mako asked surprising Korra

"oh uh.. I guess the life I use to live didn't allow me to think about it" Korra said as they both stood up leaving the room

"And now?" Mako asked

Korra turned the light off of the girl's room after making sure she stayed asleep and lightly closed the door. She thought about Mako's question. "I-I don't know" Korra sighed

"anyway, I should get going" Mako said as they walked down the stairs. Mako said bye to Asami who was still looking at a paper. Korra closed the door behind him and went to Asami.

"did she go to sleep?" Asami asked as she started putting papers away

"she did, I had to read her favorite book though" Korra chuckled

"It's some book" Asami said making Korra chuckle

"it's a good one, one of the classics" Korra joked making Asami giggle

After they cleaned up, Korra and Asami went to bed. Within a couple of minutes Asami fell asleep holding onto Korra. Korra lied awake staring at the ceiling as she was enjoying the feeling of Asami.

an hour later, Korra looked at the time, it was 2:30 in the morning. She had to start getting ready if she wanted to catch her flight in time. Bolin was going to pick her up at the estate to take her to her to the airport.

She slipped out of Asami's hold and took a quick shower. Once she got out and got ready, she went to Asami's side of the bed finding her still asleep.

"I love you" She whispered to the sleeping woman planting a kiss on her head then left the room.

Korra took her bag with her heading for the door "you're leaving already?" Asami asked half asleep as she sat up finding the woman about to leave the room

"yeah, I already got Bolin waiting for me outside, he's taking me to the airport" Korra said

Asami got off the bed and walked Korra to the door. She said hi to Bolin as she watched Korra get in the car. She stayed at the top of the stairs watching as the car drove off. She was going to miss Korra.

It was going to be a long 3 months.
