Miwa x Reader

"See you soon, bye." I hung up and activated my Trion body. It's been about a week since my orientation into Border. After acing most of the training programs, and fighting in the solo rank wars, I got the points to move into B-rank.

"Yosuke said that I can find them in the cafeteria.." I thought as I waited in the elevator.

The doors slid open and I walked into the cafeteria. A quick look around and I found him. He was with his teammates Kodera Shohei and Narasaka Toru, and Yosuke was there as well.

Shūji had his back towards me, but Yosuke saw me and waved. This of course prompted Shūji to turn around. I smiled and waved a quick hello. He stood up, held me by my wrist and pulled me somewhere more private.

"What are you doing here? How?" He asked as he bought me my favorite drink from the vending machine.

"A surprise." I smiled, thanking him for the drink. He sat next to me and leaned on me. "After that announcement about going into the neighborhood, I decided to apply."

"You want to go over?" He asked me, hooking his pinkie around mine.

"Not really." I sipped my drink. "It would be a cool experience if I ever qualify for it." I held his hand. "Also a fun excuse to see you and your friends." I teased.

"Stop it." He sighed.

"Ah, Miwa senpai." We both looked up. I recognized him as a Tamakoma branch agent.

"Tamakoma.." I heard him grumble.

"Be nice." I bonked him lightly on the head.

"I saw you on the news. About the away missions." I smiled at the guy with glasses. "Osamu Mikumo, right? It's nice to meet you." I stood and bowed to greet him. "These are your teammates?" I looked at the two behind him.

"Ah, yes!" He looked at the other two.

"Kuga. Kuga Yuma. Nice to meet you." The white haired one waved at me.

"Amatori Chika." The girl bowed.

"Nice to meet you all." I smiled. I noticed they were gazing at Shūji. Looking over at him, he was glaring at them.

"We better get going." Osamu smiled nervously.

"Sorry about this idiot." I pointed to Shūji. "Come on, let's go. You're bothering people with your mad face." I pinched Shūji's cheeks and held his hand. "Nice to meet you three!" I waved bye as the two of us walked away.

"I know Tamakoma has a different belief on neighbors, but you don't have to look at them like that." I sighed.

"You don't get it. One of them.." he frowned and his grip around my hand tightened. I can guess what he was referring to.

"Anyways." I shifted his attention, "do you think I should join a B-ranked team? Or wait and form my own?" I asked as he led me to their squad room.

He began giving me advice on the currently teams in B-rank. "Asuma is a good teacher, but with the current team I don't think he's looking for recruits. Since you're a sniper role with shooter triggers, hmm.." he scrolled through the tablet, looking at the various team line ups. "Nasu squad recently lost their sniper. Their Captain and Ace is a shooter so she can probably train you.." he showed me the tablet.

"Interesting.." I mumbled. With his tablet I could see a lot more data on the team compared to what I had access to as a B-rank. Past rank war records, main and sub triggers, and it even showed the points each person had.

"Thanks. I'll give it a shot." I smiled, passing the tablet back to him.

"Then for alternative options, probably.. Arafune.." he seemed hesitant on that one.

"The full sniper team, right?" I asked and he nodded.

"No one there has shooter experience though. Unless you find a teacher outside of your team." He put the tablet down. "Nasu Squad is probably the best option."

"Only if they agree to it." I smiled leaning on his arm. "Thank you for the advice." I kissed his cheek. He smiled and leaned against me.

"I missed you." He mumbled.

"Me too." I smiled as he kissed my forehead.
