ANGELICA’S POV
As my eyes slowly opened, I realized I was in an unfamiliar place. The walls were painted white, the curtains were blue—definitely giving off a hospital vibe.
“M-Mom?” I whispered, lifting my head carefully. I scanned the room, and just as I thought… I was in a hospital.
“Mom, bakit tayo nasa hospital?” I asked, noticing how uneasy she looked.
Just then, a woman in a white coat—probably the doctor—walked toward me. She gently held my hand, and honestly, kinabahan talaga ako. She sat beside me with a calm, soft expression.
“Wala ka bang naaalala, miss?” she asked gently. “You fainted earlier this morning… You’re lucky someone found you. Kung wala, the least fortunate thing that could’ve happened is…” she paused, “you could’ve died.”
Nanlaki ang mga mata ko. I was still trying to process everything she just said. Totoo ba 'to?
So if no one found me, I could’ve… died?
*Pero bakit nga ba ako hinimatay? At sino naman 'yung nagligtas sa akin?*
Those were just a few of the many questions swirling in my head. Ang gulo-gulo ng isip ko. I couldn’t remember anything—only that I woke up here… in the hospital.
Then my phone vibrated. I turned to check it and saw a message from an unknown number.
"Are you okay now?"
Napakunot noo ako. Sino ‘to? Why is this person asking if I’m okay? Alam niya ba ang nangyari sa akin? I stared at the message, unable to reply right away dahil sa sobrang curiosity.
I opened Facebook and tried to search for the number or account linked to it. “Ang bagal naman! Ubos na ba ‘yung FB10 ko?” I grumbled while waiting for the page to load. I was just about to click on the profile when—bam—my phone died.
“Lowbatttt!!!” I shouted, totally frustrated.
I looked up and saw both my mom and the doctor staring at me. Napahiya ako bigla. Realizing how loud I was, I lowered my gaze.
“Are you okay, anak?” my mom asked, puzzled.
Ngumiti lang ako at tumango. I couldn’t even look her in the eye out of embarrassment. Hayyy, bakit nga ba ako nandito?
“Wala ka pa ring naaalala?” she asked gently.
“Wala po…” I shook my head slowly. “Bakit po ba ako nandito? Kanina lang nasa campus pa ako…”
“Sana wala ka ngayon dito kung nakinig ka lang sa akin,” she began. “I told you to get a check-up for your illness, pero pinilit mo pa ring pumasok sa campus dahil lang sa examination mo.”
“Eh kasi naman, Ma…” I started to explain, but she cut me off.
“May mas mahalaga pa ba sa kalusugan mo, ha? Angelica?” Her tone grew colder. “Kasi sa ginagawa mo, parang ako lang ang may pakialam sa’yo.”
Tahimik lang ako. I know she’s just worried. Back when I was five, I was diagnosed with a heart condition. We were constantly in and out of hospitals. My dad was still alive back then—I remember how he and Mom took turns watching over me.
There was even a time when things got so bad that I had to be placed in the ICU. I honestly thought I wouldn’t make it. Pero heto pa rin ako… buhay.
So I understand why she’s acting like this. One doctor even warned us that if my condition gets triggered again, it could be fatal.
To ease her worries—kahit konti lang—I stopped arguing. Instead, I quietly looked for my charger. I needed to know who messaged me. Sino kaya ‘yun?
Grabe, I barely used my phone and it’s already dead. Ganito ba talaga kapag iPhone? I let the time pass, overthinking as usual.
My thoughts drifted back to what happened earlier. Sino kaya ‘yung taong ‘yon? My life is starting to feel like a Wattpad story…
“Mom, paano niyo po pala nalaman ang nangyari sa akin?” I asked curiously. “Did someone tell you? And if yes… who?”
“Grabe ka naman, nagmamadali? Pwede ba isaisa lang?” she laughed, clearly amused.
“Ah hehe, sorry po… I’m just really curious po kasi kung paano niyo nalaman ‘yung nangyari sa akin…” I explained.
“Someone called me,” she started, but before she could continue, the door swung open.
Two young men walked into the room, both wearing the same school uniform as mine.
Nagulat ako. Bakit ganito? Why am I seeing two handsome faces at the same time? Hinimatay ba ulit ako? Grabe, ang popogi!!!
