You've been my idol ever since I can recall,

When I think of others,

My mind draws up an almost blank wall!

You've taught the world determination and grit,

And you've told me the secret to keeping my mind fit!

Telling me to trust, believe and indulge in my every dream,

You helped me hold on,

Even when in pain, bursting apart at the seam!

You once said "Anyone can fly,

Provided they are willing to try and try!

It's sometimes okay to let it all out and cry,

But when you don't get the grip of something,

Never hesitate to rise and raise a "Why?" !"

There's no crease you can't smooth out clean,

Taking the help of your enigmatic sheen;

I've learnt such a lot from you,

And I now promise to rise and leave behind the lazy teen!

Ever thankful am I for the day

You left behind for me, your sign(ature),

For from that day on, seldom did I whine!

To all I encounter I shall speak aloud

Of your dedication and how you've made our country proud!

Fearlessly I climb the ledge,

And sunk deep in your memory I make my pledge!

Hereon, every single day that I live,

More than what I take from the world, I shall Give!

A/N: This poem is Dedicated to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, a childhood role model of mine! He is someone I look up to immensely, and admire! He is a gem of man (That's why he got the Bharat Ratna)! He was a scientist, and also a Former President of India. He was one of the two people who's lives I did small researches on, during those long years that I aspired to become an astronaut (The other person being Kalpana Chawla(expired 2003)). I had the chance of obtaining his autograph on July 25, 2008 and it's a momento I'll proudly cherish till the very end. I'll post a photo of it on this page whenever I do take a pic of it.

He unexpectedly expired last night (July 27, 2015) and the grief heavily consumed me. It's an irreparable loss to our country, and I just had to write this!

Sorry abt the rambling, I'm stopping now.
