How something so soft can survive the cold.
How a rose can freeze and still hold its shape.
Just like her.
He hadn't even started yet.
That was the disturbing part.
The plan was to wait. To watch. To ease her into it like melting ice—slow, soft, natural. He told himself it would be better that way. Safer. Cleaner.
But then she let him touch her. Let him in.
And everything unraveled.
Sunghoon stood by the tall windows of his room, eyes fixed on the frost forming along the edges of the glass. Below, the world moved quietly—obedient to time, rules, expectations. But in his chest, something twisted.
She had given him a piece of herself—not out of love, not yet—but out of trust. And he had taken it eagerly, hungrily, like a man starved of warmth for too long.
Now she haunted him in the most mundane things. The smell of coffee. The soft scrape of fabric. The way quiet used to feel comforting, but now only reminded him of her absence.
And yet, with every inch she gave, his doubt only grew.
What if she still loved him?
That man.
The one who walked in and out of her life like a revolving door. The one who had her once, and discarded her—only to crawl back when it suited him.
Sunghoon had no right to hate him.
But he did.
Because if she ever went back—if she ever chose him—Sunghoon wasn't sure what he would do.
To him.
To her.
To this delicate, beautiful world he'd started building in her shadow.
He didn't regret what he'd given her—not his time, not his silence, not his body.
But if she took it all and walked away, he would have nothing left to lose.
And that made him dangerous.
Sometimes, in his darker thoughts, he wanted to get caught.
By his father.
By his older brother.
By her ex-husband.
He wanted someone to see just how far he'd fallen.
How far he was willing to go.
Because this wasn't some poetic, bleeding-heart love.
This was possession.
And if she ever tried to leave, he wouldn't stop her.
He'd just follow...
And burn everything that came after.
