It had been a year after the war.
It had been a year since Harry Potter had been hit with the killing curse and survived it again like he did when he was 15 months old.
Harry had lost everything in the last 17 years. His parents, his godfather, his honorary godfather, and his godson.
His parents died when he was just 15 months old, so he never had any memories of them. He mourned the loss of them, but he never knew what having them felt like.
Sirius died when he was 15 years old. When he was finally getting to know what family actually felt like.
Remus and Tonks died during the battle at Hogwarts. Remus was the only tether he had to Sirius and clung to him like a leech but lost him in the battle.
Teddy was his only link to feeling remotely alive, and he had lost him as well. It was still too raw for him. They were dead, but it had only been one month.
Andromeda and Teddy were doing some shopping for Teddy in the Diagon Alley.
The lower rank death eaters who apparated away when Harry Potter moved from Hagrid after Voldemort had proclaimed him dead have started small-scale attacks whenever they could.
When those death eaters found Andromeda and Teddy, they attacked them as they knew those two were related to Remus and Nymphadora, who eliminated most of the lower rank death eaters during the war.
Harry had made sure that they would never find any link of him to those two as they were the only blood relatives Sirius had, excluding Draco and Narcissa Malfoys.
When Harry felt his godfather bond starting to strain, he knew Teddy was in danger. He immediately apparated to Diagon Alley, where he knew both of them would be as Andromeda had told him that she would go shopping with Teddy.
When Harry reached Madam Malkin's store, he saw Andromeda covered in blood, stopping any attack on Teddy with her body.
Harry had returned fire the moment he saw them. He had cursed them so bad that they'd never walk out of the hospital in their life.
When he kneeled near Andromeda, she was already dead due to heavy blood loss.
He gently pried Teddy out of her arms and tried to heal him, but as the bond started to stretch even thinner, he took him St. Mungos.
The healers took Teddy and tried their best for two hours, but Teddy died. The healers told Harry that the curses Teddy got hit with were too dark that there were thin chances of him living past a few minutes.
Teddy was alive for as long as he was because of the bond he shared with Harry.
Their funeral was a high affair for the ministry.
It was the third time the people would be able to see Harry. He had only gotten out for the funerals of the ones who laid their lives during the battle of Hogwarts and during the trial for Narcissa and Draco Malfoy.
Harry didn't speak to anyone. He didn't give a speech either. When Teddy was laid in the coffin and buried, he almost cried, but he composed himself enough not to show any emotions.
Ron, Hermione, Molly, and Ginny tried to talk with him, but he avoided them like plague.
Ginny had rounded him and tried to get him back into a relationship with her, but he just sneered at her, pulled his arm from her, and walked away.
It was now July 30, 1999. Neville's birthday. He wanted to meet him but decided not to. If he went there, he would have to meet the Weasley Matriarch and the two youngest Weasleys and Granger. He knew he would lash out on them. He didn't want to spoil Neville's birthday.
