The rain drumming against the window, blurring the city lights into hazed of colors. My face, pale and tired, stared back from the glass. Another night, another sleepless night filled with the same old questions.
Was this it? Was this all there was? I'd never felt happy, not the way people I'd seen in movies seemed to be. Would having someone by my side actually change things? Would it make the emptiness go away, or would it just be another disappointment.
All my life, I've watched others share that special bond with their fathers - their families. Eighteen years, and still... don't I deserve that too??
"CREYYY!" my cousin shouted, his voice filled with worry
His voice shattered my thoughts. Tears still clinging to my cheeks, I wiped them on my shirt and rushed downstairs.
"Watch this for a sec," he said, hurrying to the restroom, one hand covering his rear.
I couldn't refuse to help him run this internet cafe. After all, my aunt has been my only family since my mother threw me out. At least, I have someone, although only one person who understand me.
The bell clanged. A man-tall and dark, his face obscured by a mask, yet his eyes burned with an unsettling intensity-entered, drenched by the rain.
"Until morning sir?"
"Until the rain stops," he replied sharply. 'And may I use the restroom? I need to change."
Just simply say 'No,' Crey. Alan is using the restroom, where are you going to let him change?
A cold dread washed over me as his intimidating presence filled the room.
"I'm sorry but someone's using it, but... you can change in my room instead"
Since there weren't many customers, I led him upstairs. The state of my room hit me-a chaotic mess.
"Here sir," I said awkwardly, gesturing to a clear space. "You can change here, I'm sorry, I haven't had time to-"
"You can leave," he interrupted.
No, why would I?? I don't trust him
I closed my eyes, turning my back, giving him privacy to change.
"I won't steal," he said, "I'm rich."
I stayed still as if I heard nothing.
"Done," he said.
I slowly turned. The sight of him-his powerful build, broad shoulders, and defined torso-sent a shiver down my spine.
Heat flooded my cheeks.
Why am I so flustered? He's just using this to get us out Crey.
I played along, my voice trembling slightly "Are you going to play half-naked sir?"
"No... I just thought it will make you go out." he said while putting on his shirt.
"CREEEEY!!" Alan's shout cut through the air.
I'm cooked..
I dragged the man from my room and rushed downstairs, his shirt still askew as he struggled to fix it.
"I told you to-" Alan began, but then he stopped and cried jokingly as he met the man, "I'm so proud of you my friend. You've come this far."
Alan knows me better than anyone. He knows that I don't believe in love. Well.. maybe I do. But I'm sure it doesn't exist here anymore, it exists only in our ideas or fantasies. In short, I believe in love-fictionally.
