Melbourne 2025 - march

It was like the perfect adrenalin kick. Lando gripped the steering wheel tight. He warmed the tires up during the formation lap.
This was the first race of the 2025-Formula 1 Season.
Lando was excited. This year he not only wanted to win the Constructer's title with McLaren but also the driver's. It hurt, when Max had won it last season. Even though Lando was happy that the all-time fight was over with it, but there had been still a bit jealously lingering in Lando all the time.
The picture of himself holding the cup of the first placed driver was addictive like hell. And that everybody was telling him that Oscar had more chances to win the driver's title wasn't helping, however Lando couldn't deny it, he would be also happy for the Aussie. Proud that the younger one would win, even though there were much better race legends on the track out there.
Lando would never admit it out loud, but his heart had always craved for the younger one. Since their first race together as teammates. And they had shared a few kisses, yes, but nothing more. Lando didn't want to pressure Oscar with a relationship so he had waited for the summer break to talk to the Aussie seriously, to clear what this was between them. But Oscar had had other plans, he had flown to his family in Australia leaving a frustrated and hurt Lando behind.
And now they were here starting first and third, although they hadn't spoken a single word to each other. Lando questioned if Oscar had found somebody in the summer break. Lando knew he shouldn't hope for anything or be made at the Aussie, because they hadn't even a relationship just few "one-time-kisses", but the thought that Oscar had someone was making Lando feel all sad and hurt.
Lando looked into his mirror and hissed angry. A red Ferrari was starting between him and Oscar. Hamilton.
Lando wished that Hamilton would not have a good first season with Ferrari. It made Lando's blood started boiling even if he only thought about it. He could clearly remember how Carlos had come to his flat and had broken down, crying about the fact, that for the next season Fred would replace him with Hamilton. Lando hated when his best friend cried. Carlos and Lando had been always close, also when Carlos had switched to Ferrari. Lando had always been amazed, how an excellent racer Carlos was. They had supported each other through the years. And now Lando was angry at Fred and also Hamilton. Why did he have to switch to Ferrari? Why couldn't he pick another team? Carlos had four great years next to Leclerc, why had Hamilton to crash them?! Yes, Hamilton had been a very good racer, an eight-time world champion, but now? He aged like everybody and was an old man. If somebody only looked at his points from the 2024-season they would laugh. Lando had helped Carlos through his breakdown-phase and in the end, Carlos had expected Fred's choice.
Lando stopped his car from where he would start the race and waited impatiently until everybody was on his place. The lights went on slowly. >>Good luck everybody<<, Lando heard Oscar say to the radio. >>For you too, Osc<<, he whispered in response and wasn't even sure if anybody form McLaren had heard him. Just in the same moment the lights went out and the race started.
Lando managed turn one without any problem and wanted to cheer proudly as he felt something hit his car from behind. He felt how the whole thing started spinning around and around until it hit the wall. Lando's head hit the steering wheel and his nose started bleeding. His breathing came in unsteady puffs and he looked around himself in panic. >>Lando, are you ok?<<, he heard the team radio. It took him some seconds to find his voice and croak a shaky "Y-es!" out. Slowly he started to get out of the car. This couldn't be true! The first race and somebody crashed into him in the first turn. Why did it have to be always him?! He took his helmet off and looked around, the anger was suddenly gone as he saw three cars completely destroyed on the track. Lando swallowed hard as he recognized the other McLaren. >>Oscar!<<, it screamed in his mind. Lando stood there, frozen in place.
Some medical staff surrounded him, blocking his vision. They pulled him to the ambulance. Lando felt how his whole world stopped. He barely noticed how his nose-bleeding was stopped with some tissues. His mind only replayed the picture of the three crashed cars and in the middle the completely destroyed McLaren from Oscar.
Lando didn't even noticed he had been transported to the medical center. With each second passing his worry for the Aussie had been developing and developing.
Only as the door to his room opened and Zak walked in instead of a doctor Lando snapped back to reality. >>I'm glad you are alright<<, Zak said patted Lando's shoulder, >>It was a bad crash. We all thought they won't hit you, but Leclerc did. Hulkenberg and he had 'sandwiched' Oscar in the middle and the speed also caught you with them.<< Lando only nodded. >>So you only have some nose bleeding?<<, Zak asked, >>I'm glad that only one of my drivers is -<< >>What?!<<, Lando cut him off. Zak looked away. >>I'm sorry, Lando, but<<, Zak trailed off, but Lando jumped up. >>But what?!<<, Lando blurred out, his heart racing as if it wanted to jump out of his chest, >>What is with Oscar?<< >>You can look yourself<<, Zak sight sadly, >>He is in room number 81.<< Lando didn't want to run, but he couldn't stop himself.
He stormed into the room and automatically noticed the Aussie lying in the hospital bed. His usually beautiful face, completely bruised and covered in blood. Various machines connected to his body. Lando felt how everything inside him stopped. He slowly turned around to Zak, who was standing in the door frame. He begged it wasn't true. Lando knew what machines were connected to Oscar's body. This couldn't be the reality. No! Lando must just know it wrong. >>Zak?<<, Lando asked with a shaking voice, >>What are these machines connected to Oscar's body?<< >>I'm sorry, Lando<<, Zak said sadly and shook his head, >>I'm so sorry, Lando. But Oscar had fallen into a coma instantly after the race. The doctors don't know when he will wake up or if he will ever wake up again.<< Lando felt how the darkness around him started growing. >>No<<, he breathed before he collapsed to the floor.
