"Tomorrows the big day, you excited?" Korra asked Kai as he got ready for the day

"Yeah... I'm also nervous" Kai fidgeted with his hands

"you'll be fine, Honestly, I'm surprised it took you guys this long to get married, you guys are high school sweethearts" Korra said "it's been what 10 years?" she sat on the bed waiting

"13"

"see... 13? and you never popped the question?" Korra raised a brow

"I don't know, we moved in with each other right after high school, and we've been living with each other since and I don't know, it felt like we were already married, it felt like we didn't need to make it official, but then when Jinora asked me to marry her... I realized we weren't married and I all I could think was, wow, even thought its been this long, she still picked me" Kai shrugged

"well, I'm happy for you" Korra said "oh and before the spa Bolin wanted to get a haircut for tomorrow and I recommend you getting one" she teased seeing the boy trying to make his hair look nice

"me? you need to get yours cut, I didn't even recognize you when you came back" Kai laughed

"yeah yeah, I'll think about it" Korra laughed

"so.. you and Asami" Kai said as he was putting on his shoes

"Don't even mention it, I think she hates me" Korra crossed her arms

"please, you two missed each other so much ya'll had a one night stand last night" Kai said putting his keys and wallet in his pockets "and don't say you didn't or you don't remember, I saw her leave your room this morning"

"Ok ok, yes, we had a night together, but that doesn't mean she doesn't hate me, plus, she right away left" Korra mentioned, she then sighed "don't tell Mako, he'll probably hate me for sleeping with his girlfriend again" She said making Kai realize that no one updated her

"oh um they're actually not together"

"what?" Korra raised a brow "I thought they were going to work it out"

"well, see what had happen was... after you left, Asami realized it was you that she wanted to be with for the rest of her life because in her words, you are the love of her life, and she wanted nothing to do with Mako romantically, so Mako quickly moved one, but he still helps out with co-parenting, but yea, Asami is single and has been single for the years you were gone because she couldn't see herself with no one else but you" Kai said in one breath

Korra tried to process everything he said "I should've never left"

"yeah, but if you didn't I think it would've never made Asami realize how much she loves you" Kai said "you shouldn't have re-enlisted for 4 years" he pointed out "but hey now your back for good right?"

Korra was deep in thought "no actually, my 4 years isn't up, I still have 2 months to finish my contract, I leave back the day after the wedding, I was lucky enough to even come down here" Korra said

"wait so you're just here for the wedding and you're leaving?"

"yeah, my flight leaves at 4 in the morning" Korra said

"what about Asami?"

"There's nothing I can do till I come back" Korra shrugged "besides, I doubt she wants to talk to me"

"but you had last night"

"either she was black out drunk and didn't remember it was me or she did know it was me and regretted it and left"
